Can I map this?

Hi all, ignore my ignorance.I have a year 2000 impreza wagon can I get this car remapped? And how much would I expect to pay. I have a stainless exhaust with decat centre section a piper cross panel filter and a upgraded recirc Bov. Many thanks in advance Ian

same as mine mate you need a uprated fuel pump and a ecotek remap at £550 most places charge ,

keep in mind when you go you might need differant spark plugs as well

burning rubber 02 November 2011 06:41 PM

yes go for iradium plugs :thumb:

Car will have a td04, standard spark plugs are fine NGK PFR6B.
Assuming exhaust is a decat then should see upto 280bhp, or 265~270bhp with downpipe cat still installed.

Makes sense to replace the fuel pump to make sure all is well and on a 99/00 the maf sensor is very fragile so worth buying a new one to ensure all is good.

Cheers all for the advice,I need a new Maf sensor at the moment.:(

Stay Off boost until sorted.

If maf needed it might be worth considering a simtek as doesnt use a maf.

What's a simtek? :wonder:

Turbotits 07 November 2011 05:25 PM

Simtek is an aftermarket ecu. It doesnt use the maf sensor. Its map based. I use one. If mapped well you wouldnt know any different from the o/e ecu. Except you have the ability to have 2 maps to have mapped as you choose. Maybe high and low boost or two different fuels for instance. Also has the ability to do launch control and anti lag

Jolly Green Monster 07 November 2011 05:25 PM

After market ecu. If issue is maf, simtek is mafless so maf plus remap of standard ecu nearly cost of a simtek and then no maf issues ever again

Dutch Scooby lover 07 November 2011 05:26 PM

Completely new ECU.
Ecutek is nothing more then reprogramming the stock ECU (and keeps the stock sensors like the pish MAF)
Simtek is a different ECU, which determines engine load without the MAF, but by using the absolute pressure and temperature of the intake air.
This emans you can chuck away the standard MAF.

If you need a remap, and are sure your MAF is bolloxed now would be a great time to consider a Simtek, they pop up from time to time secondhand (in which case it'll probably not be much dearer then Ecutek remap + new MAF)

So I am looking at about 500 quid? Money is so tight at the moment I might have to put it back to standard. And wait :brickwall:brickwall:brickwall

Turbotits 07 November 2011 06:04 PM

A little more than that i would have thought

I was being optimistic lol:(

bigsinky 09 November 2011 08:13 PM

500 wont even get you an ecutek remap never mind factoring in a new MAF.

ditchmyster 09 November 2011 08:21 PM

Open source remap of your standard ecu, duncan race dynamics, and a second hand maf off a v3 sti will see you sorted for around £400 :thumb:

Bristol98 10 November 2011 01:10 PM
