whos changed their centre diff?

Hi guys, I was going to attempt to change my centre diff, but after looking at it thought twice about it today. The main reason being that we would run out of light now that the clocks have gone back and I need to use the car tomorrow.

Has anyone changed theirs while still fitted to the car and have you got any tips that would be helpful?

Cheers.

take the gearbox out, i once changed the centre diff/transfer box on my old 5 speed to a dccd setup, it was the most ball aching job iv ever done. Would of been quicker and easier taking the box out

centre diff went on mine in June, 3 days before going to the Nurburgring.

Took it to a specialist in my home town who had a couple of wrecked gearboxes (stripped 2nd/3rd) so he said he'd remove a centre diff and inspect it to see if it was useable.

charged me £100 for the 2nd hand diff including fitting, all I had to do was supply the gearbox oil. I think he did it without removing the complete box.

Still going strong, chuffed to bits.

Last time I changed one it took about 1 1/2 hrs with the box in, once the props off it's just a case of removing the gear linkage and cross member and unbolt the rear housing.
