Rb320 are they worth it?
Hi all I'm currently looking at an rb320 2007 model 20k miles just wondering how good they really are is there a better subaru to buy, does the Rb hold it's money well?

RB320 is a stunning car! I've only ever seen one on the road so a pretty rare sight ...
I wouldn't count on any scoob holding it's value too well chap :( TX. |

What's the stats on an rb320 bhp torque wise, whats the standard engine capable of and are they easy to tune?

I think its a personal opinion, choice and desire. You will have a lot of people say save the extra buy a UK car and mod it with the difference, with that you will end up with a similar suspension set up if not better a few choice modes and a custom map which will no doubt end up with more power,
Other will fly the JDM flag bang on about twin scroll turbo's being the holly grail and say you will never go back, ( well I tried it and went back to single scroll) so again its personal thing, If you want something that stands out, gets imo respect as most in the know will know all about the RB, is set up by prodrive for the UK roads so no real need to change the set up (same as the p1) has some nice exterior tweaks so no need to mess there, has a very nice grown up interior so again no.need mess inside, then has the power upgrade although I would have a custom map put on it, which is all well rounded off with some nice orange stickers to let people know that you have a nice little limited edtion run and a build number which is what in my view it is all about. They are a limited car and same as why I picked the p1 over a type r as it was that little bit special in my eyes and I loved it everytime I walked up to it, drove it, just knowing I was part of a limited group. End of the day you are looking at them for your own reasons and I would suggest you test drive all 3 and make your own mind up as its your money and you have to live with the car on a daily basis. Best of luck which ever you go for as I am sure you will not be disappointed |

i have a hawk sti uk version and messed about a little with it, fitted a quality 20g and now does 370bhp safetly although iam aware its the limit of the pistons, anways its alot more than a rb does , next iam looking at some ohlins for suspsension to address that issue, it really depends what your after, a rb320 is prob worth more for the limited edition part alone on resale value

They do seem to keep their value fairly well. What were they new £32k? Seen quite a few 07's around the £19/£20k mark. Not bad for a 4.5yr old car. They do stand out and I personally like the look of them but would prefer to spend the money on something newer like a '11 320R for just 3-4k more and 2 yrs warranty.

i think the RB320 is the best looking old style car their is personally,
as for residual they seem to be OK, 15 to 20k still, The Spec C are prob better but i persoanlly think the Rbs look best as unless your an Avid Subaru fan the Spec C is just another Scooby the RB looks special Kinda. To the Noaml Man anyway |

Ok just thought i would give you my 2pennies worth,in my opinion i think the RB320 is a very special car that was made in honour of a very talented driver,who we all know was sadly taken from the subaru comunity.I have owned mine now for nearly 3 years & have enjoyed every minute of it,i have never driven a spec c but im sure it also is a great car,for me it was all about being a little exclusive as only 320 were made.They are not cheap to run or tax @£460 a year,you cant really put cheap tyres on them either & of course insurance can be quite high,that said they get alot of attention from people who love subarus.Hope this helps & good luck in finding whatever you choose.:thumb:

my mates got one and i can honestly say it is a gorgeous bit of kit they look awesome when they come down the road , i love my scoobs i have done for years but there is something about the rb thats special i think . theres one that goes around skegness aswell it to looks good as do all scoobs but they just have that little something about them . try and get one with the leather interior they are awesome , plus they go well to standard , hold there value, say no more, all imo of course . :thumb: good look ;)

I've always liked them. They look fabulous and are great cars. However, overpriced imho.
I've no regrets in going down the Spec C Litchfield Type 20 route. We can agree than Blackhawks rule though! :D |
Lovely looking motors Black Hawks, We have a couple of RB320`s in LADS, At the end of the day it is just another limited edition that subaru have put out and they have done quite a lot over the years, But saying that IMO it`s in the more desirable class (22b, P1, Spec-C), If you want a standard car out of the box that has everything including a bit of exclusivity you cant go wrong with an RB320,
If you want to modify it(Apart from an exhaust & Map) well thats another story, There would be better cars to choose from, There is a very nice hawk for sale on here at the moment which has all the mods you will need for a simaler price, Good luck, Hope you get the one you want, My choice is a Spec-C though, Gaz. |
Both are great cars ,but the RB320 is just another tarted up UK STI with a few bits on it.
The spec c is just as civilised as the RB320 apart from a little more road noise due to the removal of sound deadening other than that it has all the creature comforts you need. The only thing to watch out on the RB320 is the 2.5l engine ring land issues. The spec c on the other hand comes out the factory a much better car IMHO. Stiffer chassis reinforced cross members more spot welds through out the chassis 2.0l blue printed engine good for 450bhp+ (same engine the group n rally cars use) twinscroll turbo equal length headers rev to 8000rpm 12l intercooler water tank in boot for even weight distribution. Closer ratio box 70kg lighter There some bargains to be had at the moment on piston heads as there a couple of spec c's available and RB320. The best thing to do is drive both cars then decide. :) |

The 320 relates to the number they made. I think the power is 320PS which is approx 315 BHP (which I think is the same power as a Hawkeye STI PPP)

this would get my look for the same money as an RB
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3314263.htm but as stated in my first post, its a personal choice / preference / desire. im not a fan of the twin scroll on the one in the link but i am a fan of the type 20 / 25 and this one has had a few choice mods and a power hike! which i am a fan of. best bet is to test drive one of each and decide from there as this could go on for months, end of the day it is YOU who has to live with it no one else so get test driving |
