Worth mapping?

I've got a 2003 wrx, and I'm thinking about a remap.
I'm just wondering if it's worth it on an almost standard car.
It's got a wr sport tailpipe and I'm going to change the air filter.
Is there anything else I should do?
What sort of improvement could I expect?
Cheers

Probably best to lose the second cat and resonated center section decent panal filter and a walbro pump should get you a decent hike in power and torque.

Will losing the cat effect mots and will losing the resonated section make the car louder?

Hi there if its worth remap yours,i would say yes there without the doubts.

I would recommend these parts and you will see around 270-280bhp

Decatted downpipe and Up pipe(Can be from STi,which is decatted)

255lph Walbro Fuel pump

Uprated panel filter

Remap OS or EcuTek,both give you same bhp, difference is in the licence and price(£550 excluding vat for EcuTek or £250-£350 for OS remap)

The second cat removal won't cause any issues with Mot, so fit this with a panel filter and silicon intercooler hose along with your wr sport back box. Replacing centre section also will add a little more noise but not a great deal, a remap on this should get you about 269bhp

Yes can effect like MOT and will be louder, due this if you are looking for both is Sport cat(JapSpeed or used Prodrive sport cat are great for price)

If I remember rightly, they had a WRX on a TV Show called wheeler dealers a while back. They put on a panel filter, and a cat back 3" exhaust (most likely removing the second cat), then had a remap, and achieved 245bhp.

As Jura says - you must have a minimum of a sports cat in the downpipe in order to pass MOT. my WR1 has a sports cat first, de cat second as standard, and still it needs a good engine warm before it will pass the emissions test at MOT time...

Very precise prediction there.

Miss type meant about 260bhp as similar to ppp spec not always easy to type on iPhone but whichever route you take will be noticeable. I found following ppp spec was easier on insurance when I had my wrx

Just went through this process on a pals car, 2004 WRX ith 30K miles. Panel flter , Fuel Pump, Decat. It made 275 of supermarket umleaded. I have driven the car a few times in standard form, Yawn... after remap , lively little motor well worth it, with good low down power and excelent drivability.

It will make a whole world of difference

There are3 cats in the exhaust system
Up pipe
Down pipe
Centre section
Which should I remove?
If it's the centre section would a resonated one make much difference, as I'm trying to keep volume to a minimum?
Thanks for all the suggestions so far
