Blue stuff NDX for STI hatch

Anyone know if Blue Stuff NDX DP51210NDX will fit the Hatchback STI?

Or more generally, is the pad fitment (front and rear) for the hatchback the same as previous years?

Thanks!

nullfork 13 October 2011 08:10 PM

For anyone else wondering, turns out DP51210NDX will fit all Brembo calipers 2002+, and Camskill are doing them for £139.95 (incl.) which is the cheapest I can find!

just to confirm (although the rear calipers are specifically different) the pad fitment is the same for ALL new-age STi's and including the Hatch STi

Good choice in pads!

Prefer Carbotech XP8 pads to those Bluestuff

prefer lots of things to %^$..................LOL

Carbotech xp8 is not a daily driver pad so you can't compare the two.

I dunno I manage:D:D

fastboyslim 15 October 2011 09:51 PM

As I too could manage with a set of Orangestuff as daily pads once they warm up enough but love the bite from totally cold of the Bluestuff, plus no noise and less brake dust. I reckon the Blues are a bit like the AX6's but made in the UK. Can you tell I am sold on the stuff Rob?!

nullfork 17 October 2011 12:44 PM

Well I've been using DS2500s for about 5 years solid now, so I'll see how I get on with the Bluestuff!

fastboyslim 20 October 2011 07:35 AM

Yeah man give them a try. I am still so impressed with the your Blue's! Over and over i have been doing 60 to 0mph stops which is more than you should ask of a set of pads. *I can get away with between 5 and 8 full blown dead stops before i feel a bit of fade and then that too passes once cooled again. *I have given these pads zero mechanical sympathy and the only thing they have thrown back is a little brake dust! *

Wow, you really not happy with them? If you don't mind me asking what pads did you run before you tried the Blues?

I don't like the Bluestuff either.

I prefer the Performance friction pads i used before. More bite in my opinion.

Hi,

The car had mintex when I bought the car, I was using GOdspeed discs, first juddered after 800 miles, but that was a wheel baring, second set juddered with in 2000 miles, 3rd set with in the same period, no sticky calipers, or any other problems.

I find the bluestuff just too inconsistent, some times they feel good, other times they are awful, mushy pedal feel, not much braking, and I have got them to fade quite regularly.

Just had the new Orangestuff pads fitted and they are even better than the Blues :)

Its a pad Ive wanted to try, but Im really intrigued by the Carbotech xp8 and dba dsics combo.

Honestly, I love the blues in my classic but the Oranges are even better ! they need zero heat to stop they just work 100% from the off :)

Hmm, might give these a try instead then, has anybody tried the new carbon discs by ebc?

Maybe I would have more success using ebc's own discs.

Thats not good at all. I know EBC did a new compound for the Blue's not so long ago, maybe you got the older stuff as i really have none of what you suffer also on Godspeed discs. You sound like you are hard on your brakes, Orangestuff could suit you better than the Blues.

Sti Addict 02 November 2011 12:02 AM

lol, :lol1: thats true, it is exciting to brake late, not too late though, I wasnt aware there was an updated version of the bluestuff.

I have a friend with an evo, usoing the xp8 pads, and they are in a completely different league compared to what I have now.

I wish there wasnt so many different pads to choose from!

fastboyslim 02 November 2011 12:18 AM

Xp8's and the new Orange would be a good comparison. See the thing about xp8's are they are track pads and they are not made to stop a car, more just to slow them down. Not saying they cant stop a car but if Carbotech themselves say not to use the xp8's as a daily driver set up.

Loads of pads to choose from, i was really luck to be given a set of Blues to test and trust me i have given them hell, you know how it goes- if you did not pay for it they are easier to trash- and am well pleased. Hope you get your brakes sorted.

Godspeed Brakes 02 November 2011 09:18 AM

The bluestuff NDX has not had any changes made to them , they have been the same compound in the last year when they were first introduced.

We have found some instances where the blues can give you pad deposits that gives you shaking in the steering wheel which feels like the discs have warped , you can see this as you get some dark area's on the disc faces which you would be able to see.
If you go out and give the brakes a hard work over , it will clean the discs up , we have found this to be more of a problem when your bedding the discs and pads in.

The discs we use are very good quality , and are a high carbon content , which is why we can give the guarantees on them offer. So it's very rarely a disc problem.

The Carbotech XP8's are also a very good pad , and a lot of EVO owners use them as everyday drives with no problems , the only downside I can see to these pads is the noise they give off with normal driving , making it screech like a rally car.

The Orangestuff pads are new , I am the only person with these at the moment , these were brought out as a higher grade than the NDX pads , some drivers were were finding the limits of the NDX pads with track use , so EBC got on the case to bring out a pad that would compete with the XP8's and XP10's from carbotech , and it seems like they have done it.
The feedback we have on the orangestuff pads is very good , even though they are marketed as a full race pad , there is feedback they they aren't as good as the Carbotech XP12's or the Pagid RS29's , but the feedback is that they are a good pad to use on the road or track as they do work from cold and are quiet.

The orangestuff pads are a bargain when you compare the prices for the top end pads , the carbotech pads are over £200 a set , the Pagids are nearly £300 a set

The orangestuff pads for the STi brembo's are £154.44

And the Orangestuff pads for the Subaru 4 pots are £148.26

That's strange Ian, i have an email from Andy from the 05/05/2011 saying "Please remember you will get CURRENT material first and then in 2-3 weeks a new tweaked version to compare" was under the impression i had the new compound as i have not had any issues a very few people are having.

Godspeed Brakes 02 November 2011 06:05 PM

In that thread that was started back then when a handfull of people were cooking them, didn't a few people get some specially made tweeked ones to try out , but this was a one off which didn't make it to production

fastboyslim 02 November 2011 06:30 PM

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up. Like i have said before i have no issues with my Blues and armed with some telemetry software am going to give the Oranges a good work out!

By the way Ian your two piece discs i have had on my car for the last two years and used with the Blue stuff pads have been glowing before and i still have had no issues with them either. Good work!

P15UL T 02 November 2011 08:02 PM

Hi Ian, i sent you a pm a few days ago regarding some prices for new discs and pads - have you had a chance to look at it ?

many thanks
Paul
