Best wax for winter?
Hey guys me and bro want to wax our scoobys for winter before the snow kicks in whats the best wax you guys use to protect the painwork for the winter months
cheers rob :) |
Autoglym HD wax, not cheap (like 45 quid a pot) but its damned good :D
Tony:) |
does it leave any white marks ? that really does my head it when we find white powerd in the groves around door handle ect
|
saw it on ebay tony small pot lol how long does it last ? lol
|
No, its not like some of the old autoglym stuff, its really top quality, lasts about 6 months between applications ;)
Tony:) |
nice :) so you use the whole pot on the car ?
|
I'm with Tony all the way here, the HD wax is amazing stuff and bead's water a treat as well Rob,oh see you at the meet as well mate:thumb:
|
sweet yeah prodrive defo see you there, wanted to know best wax as going to wax her before the meet :)
|
Colli 476s this stuff lasts for months at a time, i put 2 coats on a corsa start of last winter and it was still beading come spring.
Decently priced aswell at £16 http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/co.../prod_207.html |
Dodo Juice Supernatural.
|
I have got a mica blue bug and got told that dodo juice purple haze was really good as brought out the depth as well? But a few people have been saying autoglym hd wax is good, so what do you think?
|
2 layers of supernatural (excuses the poor picture)

Think the dodo juice range are more for the summer months with less durability, fine if you don't mind replenishing wax every few weeks and they will give a better depth to the shine.
I found with the colli 476s after washing a quick spray over with a quick detailer has it looking like it's just been waxed again. Can't comment for AG HD wax as never used it, mainly due to the price |
So you need 2 layers of supernatural but only 1 layer of HD....
Nearly a year since mine and yes ive not added another coat of HD to the car, still not too bad but needs doing again before winter :) Tony:) |
a damn good splodge of goose grease will sort it :norty:

If you were near me, OX18, I'd lend you a pot of HD to do two cars. How near are you?
|
You should use a sealant if you want the best protection for the winter, I personly use dodo juice hybrid it's half sealant and half wax so best of both worlds. Will give you at least 3-4 months protection and the pot will last years!!! So easy to use just make sure you put it on thin or it's hard to remove, the finish is truly amazing!
|
I'd go with DoDojuice, their hard wax range is fantastic stuff!
|
i just polished and t-cut mine, didnt think about wax :|
|
To be honest I think the hybrid is in a different class!
I don't think there is much difference between the hard and soft wax other than it's easier to achieve thinner coats with hard wax. They do a pro hard wax but I'd still go for the hybrid supernatural, then top it off if I have the time with the standard supernatural wax. |

Yeah I have some cheapy wax might go to have alook at some heavy duty wax though nice new coat for winter, I'm currently building a roof for my car at the back of my house only cheap roof bit of cheap wood and plastic roof to keep snow and rain off, it's also good cos I have good surrounding to build the roof to side winds/snow or rain lol
