Audi A3 DSG

A friend that works away has asked me to travel to Bradford to view a car in a dealership, to make sure everything is fine with it before he buys it, currently in India at Sea, take a few pics for him and give my opinion, now i'm fine looking over/under the car but i'm not too sure on how to 'test' a DSG gearbox is working as it should???? in any normal full-auto it's just reverse to 1st, smooth changes and kick down.........dont fancy playing with no flappy paddles too much haha

It's a A3 3.2 with the DSG gearbox....all help appreciated:luxhello:

Do a quick google search on audi dsg problems. Quite a few problems now emerging about them and as usual expensive to replace parts on them.
But the basics apply, check that go up and down smoothly and into reverse. It been a bit dim witted at junctions ie usure what gear to go for is normal.
Personally I would avoid both a DSG and or a 3.2. Either normal auto or a manual and not a 3.2, heavy fuel consumption, not great power and £400 road fund tax.

I agree with you on Autos after my 750s auto box went the way of the pear lol

However his other car is an f430 spider and this is his winter car, so MPG is still amazing in comparison lol
He WAS looking into an a4 sline until he had a courtesy car (this model he's looking at) from Ferrari when he put in for the upgraded headers.

Must be nice to be a cheif engineer for BP - wish i stuck in at school :-( lol
But thanks for the info :-D

The DSG concept is good but as above, on the older DSG cars it has faults and in my experience is not quick to change which for me was the whole purpose.
Funnily enough I served my time as an officer cader with BP.
