What pipe is this???

Under my car(UK TURBO Wagon W Reg) at the front, there is a metal pipe that seems to have two branches to the underside of the engine(passenger side), this runs across the underside of the engine past the front of the oil filter. It looks a bit rusty and has subaru embossed on it, Wat is this?? I will post some pics tomorrow in better light!!!

Ta!!

Has the car been mapped at all? Theres a possibility that you'll to need a remap if you change your headers and up-pipe to something aftermarket as this is quite a big performance gain.

I have a 2000 reg classic and have just wrapped my headers for now but if I change them to ceramic/stainless/ported or whichever suits my budget then i'll have to get a map tweek to support this.

Japspeed seem cheap so i'm not sure if theyre just a bargain or you're getting what you pay for. RCM or Harveys headers are the most recommended on here as theyre proven, but you'll pay more for them as theyre quality.

at the moment the car is sorn on the drive, ive had it about six months an only drove a few times on private land. I got the car in a deal shall we say with no history, i took it on as a project(long termer!!) so im not sure yet on the map situation. im drawin up a list of things to do with the first bein the £550 service at api once ive got the change to do it!!! lookin over the car this(The Headers, Cheers lads!!) seems one area that needs attention, looking underneath it dont look too bad for an 11 year old motor, no smoke or leaks!!!

I did think that about the price at japspeed!!

if the headers arent leaking then i'd leave them as they are or replace for a better condition standard set until you know the map situation mate.

Yours will be ECUtek only so you'd need to get a mapper to read the ecu to see if it has a license on it.

If its not been mapped then you need to get all your mods together and on the car before getting it mapped as an ECUtek will set you back £550. If it has been done in the past then you'll save £150 as this is what the license costs. Expect around £300 for a remap if its been done before as you have no idea who did the map originally and it will need doing from scratch.

I take it wrapping the headers keeps heat in to keep better exit pressure giving better intake pressure, im a fridge engineer so im just tryin to use logic???? . No apparent leaks dicovered so fingers crossed!!

As for the mods before mapping, my car has already got a stainless exhaust an pipercross filter but ive been advised to ditch it for a standard box an decent filter insert. Its also got a large topmount intercooler, and i swapped the well lane dv for a forge one as the well lane was givin me idling and running issues, the swap has cured this, spose the map will make the most of wats there!! Thanks for the tips bro!!
