West Coast of Scotland
 

I have a week off soon and am thinking of taking the wife and two dogs to scotland again
Somewhere in the highlands right on the WEST coast.

We did it 2yrs ago and were both extreamly ill so cound't enjoy the scenes & nature to the fullest. But we got engaged and am now married :D

Hard to pick a bad spot up there. Oban, Kyle, Mallaig. All surrounded by amazing scenery.

Recently i had to send an Ebay item to Stornoway, i quite fancy seeing what that's like one day...

Beautiful country, don't think you could fail wherever you went.

Indeed - I've wanted to go back to that area ever since seeing a little bit of it on the SIDC Tour d'Ecosse a good few years back.

Steve Carter's website has some self catering accomodation links. It's very easy to waste an hour day dreaming whilst looking through his fantastic pictures (never mind reading about his stunning house...)

With Applecross you need to have a come back plan. There is only a campsite and a pub really at the end of it!

If you do head up west past fort william then you can cross the bridge to isle of skye too.

How much do you want to spend?

Hotel or self catering?

How remote ?

We will be self catering, in a cottage. Around £250 for the week and we will have two very well behaved beagles.

I'd like to be near the waters edge as I fancy taking a rod. Part of me wants as remote as possible but at the same time I like a local shop just incase - I've seen the film the strangers lol

3rd week in november. you dont think thats enough? Although saying that. ~There is only 2 of us and there are loads we have found. Just wondering if anyone here knows of some goodens ;)

Depends what you want i guess. £250 will get the job done, but i'd be looking at closer to £400 for something a bit indulgent. Going to the Highlands? Do it properly. :)

I would recommend you go the whole hog and visit the western isles .Some absolutely fantastic beaches . Take in the isle of Skye on your way over .Must go back there myself sometime soon .Enjoy :thumb:

It'll be baltic of course but midge free. If you are there for the walking/scenery then away you go.

Nice stop over at Rogart www.sleeperzzz.com interesting accomodation and nowt there but a pub doing decent snap!

Edit just realised they close after September! Doh! But if you go when there is a possibility of not getting snowed in it is a laugh.

Double edit - dog issues but if you've already eaten them at Applecross that won't be an issue.

We stayed here, back in May this year - very nice - but not in the price range that you're looking at (Nov would be £450 a week by the looks of it). It's owned by a friend of mine.

Lovely place with fantastic views, about an hour north of Fort William on the "Road to the Isles" and Mallaig.
