What bhp would u need to beat....

so what bhp would i roughly need in a classic to see a e46 m3 off just a question because would be happy to see one off:thumb:

addi monster 02 October 2011 05:42 PM

i beat one on 340/325 in my 95jdm impreza

ad uk 02 October 2011 05:45 PM

was it close m8

kirstybumx3 02 October 2011 05:49 PM

dont forget ad all down to weight ;) less weight less bhp need

ad uk 02 October 2011 05:51 PM

yea i know that m8 but just want a rough estimate to see if i would tater my uncles m3 cause he wont stop going on about it so 350 should be plenty

JohnnyR6 02 October 2011 05:52 PM

i blew one away easily with 150bhp.

johnny

TonyBurns 02 October 2011 05:56 PM

Can out pace E46 M3's with 312bhp, but thats a Spec C, you probably need much more in a classic :lol1:

Tony:D

musso2010 02 October 2011 06:08 PM

Remember, bhp isn't everything. its also about driver skill.

Mifo 02 October 2011 06:33 PM

I blew away an e90 m3 in my spec c with 360 bhp:thumb:

I reckon a 300 bhp classic would take an e46

Shaun 02 October 2011 06:41 PM

You'll probably find the 150bhp is all motorbike. ;)

150bhp in that thing would rip it open like a fat kid with a box of chocs

richie001 02 October 2011 06:54 PM

My brother's 240bhp UK turbo could see off the M3 I had.But as posted before it's all down to the driver.

Had a few M3's and couple of porche boxter S's try it on with my old wagon at 330/320 odd, it wasnt really a fair fight tbh ! down a slip road both get toasted by a well setup classic, a 911 turbo on the other hand is another matter :cuckoo: , I would be pulling over and letting Johnny by aswell  !

AlanPPP 02 October 2011 07:26 PM

Yep my 96 WRX running 320 easily seen off an E46 M3.

barnshaw 02 October 2011 07:28 PM

i have to be honest i am a bit optimistic about some of the comments on here, having a 360bhp blob last year i raced an M3 and yes initially off the line the subaru nails it after that the M3 catches up, they are still 340 odd bhp themselves so some bold claims i think on here.

prodriverules 02 October 2011 07:35 PM

A well set up 350bhp classic will munch a M3 no questions asked but I repeat 'WELL SETUP'!

bigarf 02 October 2011 07:49 PM

650bhp is plenty enough to leave an m3 for dead, and there is enough left to see his mate off in the 911 too.:norty:

Roughly 40bhp to be level pegging when on the straight

depends on the amount of torque aswell.;)

craigyp 02 October 2011 08:07 PM

Quite abit then really mines the 05 blob but I suppose the engine is the same as earlier models?

Put it this way if you had a classic and newage with 350/350 a piece, the classic would leave the newage[not for dead mind].

Andy RB5 02 October 2011 08:14 PM

I easily took an E46 M3 doing 40mph when I was doing 50mph in my 245bhp RB5 the other day ;)
