I have a Deep Blue Mica 95 H touch up - again much darker than it should be. I took the first one back because the match was so bad but the replacement was not much better.

It seems to be just way to thick. It might look better if it could be thinned out - what solvent could be used? Can water based paint be diluted with water or have I missed the point?

Boost - was that a point I saw whizzing by??? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

The touch up paints are solvent based - and always too thick. A few drops of cellulose thinners at a time will thin it.

Need to touch up part of the body work. Where is the best place to source DBM touch up paint? Could I get a larger amount ( to colour code the skirts) for not a lot more? Many thanks all.

Got mine from my dealership and it matches a treat.
talk to yuor local car paint supplier re a larger amount. however, i would let the person who is gonna paint (assuming it is not you) your 'skirts' get the paint themselves in case there is a mismatch - the onus is on them to get it spot on.

If you want an aerosol version speak to Jim Childs at Cheam Motors (020 8394 2263). He can have any colour made up in a large aerosol for roughly £15. The match is very good (I've used the DBM myself)

I have a DBM touch-up stick from my Subaru dealer and I have to say it looks black when applied!! - I am sure I have the wrong one - if you all say it matches well?

I also have some DBM touch up paint from a dealer which looks black. Match is very bad even though they got the colour code from the car and ordered the correct one.

I should have clarified - mine is DEEP blue Mica (MY00) not dark blue mica - I dont know if this makes any difference.

If you're not happy with the match - speak to Jim at Cheam Motors (details in pre3vious post) - they use an independent company to do the paint mixing and their match is spot on.

Speak to the bodyshop manager of your dealership. I did, and he made me up a little pot of DBM which is a good match.
