Difference between ej25 & ej257

As above whats the difference if any? Im running a 2006 sti bottom end in mine so wondering which block im using and the power capabilities of the crank. I read somewhere that andy forrest had run a 2.5 sti crank at 800bhp for 3 seasons

Not 100% sure,

But I think the EJ25 is open deck, I know the EJ257 is definately semi-closed deck.

EJ257 as said is a Semi-Closed Deck, It wouldnt have been run at that power with anything standard, ie Bearings etc....and if it was a 2.5l block it would have been pinned or sleeved too for that power, As otherwise it would have melted.

I thought Andy forrest used to run a 2.0L Block which more than likely would have been a CDB, Apart from his new 3.6L?

Gaz.

your right he did run a cdb, not sure if it was a 2 or 2.2 but it was machined to take the 2.5 crank. heard the cranks were good in the 2.5 but didnt think they would stand near that power. you dont kniw which block an 06 sti uses do you?
