I'm so damned unlucky that the odds MUST be less than that that I get hit by some space junk which will come to earth tonight .... but they have given me 3200:1!! RESULT!!

The way I see it I can't lose .... if it doesn't hit me than I'm alive and well ..... if it does then I win my bet!!!

It's WIN, WIN, WIN!!!! :thumb:

Could have got better odds than that, I stuck £1000 on at 4million to 1 that the junk hits and kills me. The T&Cs says I must collect the bet in person.

Trout 23 September 2011 10:24 AM

So you are 4,375 times more likely to get hit by a falling satellite than win the lottery tomorrow!

Hanley 23 September 2011 10:39 AM

As someone commented on the Sky News article the 3200/1 are the odds it will land on anyone.

The odds of it hitting you are 3200/1 multiplied by the chances you are that person - 22 trillion and 400 billion to one!! :D

Disclaimer - I couldn't be bothered to verify his figures!!

Trout 23 September 2011 12:05 PM

I'll stick to the lottery!!

Trout 23 September 2011 12:06 PM

BTW if it lands in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Leicester or Bradford the odds fall to 1.0000000001:1

tony de wonderful 23 September 2011 12:12 PM

Better put the car in the garage tonight. :)

Ray T 23 September 2011 12:33 PM

not sure the roof would offer that much protection ;)

Dave Thornton 23 September 2011 12:57 PM

What are the odds on the satellite falling on Dale Farm?

win-win situation

I always thought your heart ruled your head Pete.

You will be able to spread so much good to the unlucky ones after it hits you.

Les :)

The funny thing is that no one worries about being hit by falling objects yet most still do the lottery :lol1:

I love NASA's official line on this - saying it's likely to land "in the sea" and their reasoning is that "most of the earth is covered in sea"
LOL clever people them NASA lot !

Terminator X 23 September 2011 06:04 PM

70/30 split between sea / land :thumb: + almost one entire half is sea remember ...

Is this what Ladbrokes are now offering on the Greek debt crisis NOT sinking the whole country down the plug-hole, and taking most of the EU with it? ;)

Seriously though, I'd stay indoors tomorrow morning, or wear some protective headgear to do the weekly shop.

Saint AAI 24 September 2011 07:08 AM

I don't think staying indoors will keep you safe. Not sure what the terminal velocity of a piece of space junk weighing around 150Kg is, but I imagine with that sort of momentum it will go straight through your house.

edition 30 24 September 2011 07:39 AM

Well it didn't get me. " o sh 1t what's that noise outsi.........

PaulC72 24 September 2011 12:58 PM

Its ok Pete I just went and put £1 @ 3200:1 that the space junk will hit you too :) heres hoping.
