Anyone tried HSD coilovers ?
http://www.hsdcoilovers.com/
hunting for new suspension for my 2005 Sti (widetrack) 114pcd, came accross these, Was looking for some kyb ultra SR's and some Eibach springs etc but seems very hard to get any shocks for any blobs other than the 2003/2004, dono if coilovers are really an option or are going to be too hard for our totaly CRAP UK roads, I currently comute 35 odd miles each way every day... (wich at present is very bouncy and clonky!) loved my old classic setup of std shocks /eibach (P1) springs and whiteline bits.. |
Go onto Driftworks forum, loads of guys using them on there, with lots of review threads.

I had the same problem with my 54 blob. You can't get kybs for the 114 widetrack blobs or hawkeyes even though the stock suspension is made by KYB.
Coilovers are the only option. I bought apex coilovers and sold them and the car before i had chance to fit them. I decided that suspension wasn't something to try save on. if i had kept the car i would have gone for KWs or tein. Looked at HSD and they looked good but I don;t know anyone with them. |

any else tried these lately as thinking of getting some on my sti??
|
Hiya, I have tein super streets on my widetrack and it rides really well. I live out in the sticks and have adjusted it to suit.
Really impressed with them. |
One of Lads on NESF is selling brand new set of these. Think there cheap too.
|
how much mate? and need 114 pcd
|
I had them on my evo6 and loved them. I'll also be fitting some to my widetrack blob in the next month or two.
|
looking at the these http://www.driftworks.com/hsd-coilov...8-gdb-grb.html
the monopro ones. seem a decent bit of kit |
i have the monopro on my hawkeye.bought them from a time attack car.they are set at 12 clicks out of the 16.do seem a tad hard but,a good hard if that makes sense.think im going to back them off all the way and work up till i find its right for me.one of my mechanic friends took it for an mot and absolutely loved the ride

Hi Craig
We are running HSD HR on our wagon and must admit they're firmer than I would expect from them, for track or B-Roads they're awesome, but on smooth roads are little bit harsh Second bit which can surprise to you, damping adjustment is on the bottom of the shock and if you want adjust them, you will need go underneath the car, this is biggest minus on them Jura |
that seems wierd jura??
cheers rsdub. the car will 99% be on the town rds to and fro from work can't you just set to the softest setting for normal rd use? |
well its either the hsd mono pros or bc's br series. .

Have look on this expatiation http://www.clublexus.com/forums/susp...d-by-tein.html Yes you can set them to softest setting, but on the track you want to have slightly harder settings(possibly hardest) Jura |
so jura would you have them again knowing what you do now? or would you have the bcs br series? ?
I bet theres nothing in them to be fair |
used bc on my evo and after 3months of very infrequent driving they started to knock .bc would take them back but not send another set to replace them plus 2 weeks repair time with car on stands is not what i call great service

I bet theres nothing in them to be fair I've tried only twice BC BR series on the friend car and we are been impressed with them HSD HR are not bad coilovers and if they're set correctly they will perform nicely,as many guys use them on the drift cars.We are have set ours on the almost hardest setting and we are never have set them to soft(maybe later on we will set them, but at moment not sure if I would set them to soft, when car feels awesome on the road and on the track) If I would go again with the coilovers and knowing what I know now about the damping adjustment, probably I would choose probably different make(KW or Nitron),but at moment we are happy with the setup Really depends what you want from coilovers and if you have set budget for coilovers Jura |
basically all I want is a decent every day coilover for the normal roads. for up too £800
