Service

So I'm looking to do MY first service to the V4 STI on 75k, i've used the search feature on here but it's an ABSOLUTE mine field as to which oil and sparks to use and where to get it from :brickwall

am i best off using different companies? IE opie oils for oil, somewhere else for sparks ETC ETC or just get 'service kits' from the likes of importcarparts.

can people please explain why they've used what they have (ngk/bosh ETC)? my heads done in!!
oh and how much would i be looking to pay a garage to do oil/filter-sparks change? :wonder:

cheers
Aaron

NGK are standard (you will find your car probably has 6b's), oil, 10w40 semi synthetic is the standard oil, dont go lower than a 5 or a 40, would suggest if you want a fully synthetic and with winter coming up, a 5w40 or a 10w40, but it does also depend on how good the engine is, and follow the rules about filling up the oil filter and I would suggest that you also dry cranking the engine too :)

what benefit 'with winter coming up' would i gain from fully synthetic oil?

forgive my ignorance - we all start somewhere with certain stuff :-)

When ever i do a service i always find opie oils advanced service packs to be of good price and good product.

At least when you have a package like that they know what is best for your car, i dont suppose they would put a package together if they didnt think the combination was any good ?
