well its a bit more power and RWD, i wouldnt call it boring! its got power everywhere in the rev range really, once i recalibrated my brain it feels faster than the scoob - its definitely much twitchier in the wet

was 4 up in it last night and it pulled like a train, really liking it tbh

one of the main improvements is the comfort, full leather interior and its comfy as ****

Fms 666 18 September 2011 08:43 PM

+1 A guy up our road has a 2004 M3 looks beautiful but yeah when he pulls off it sounds like a bag of spanners! V8 E90 all day long

Second that, the 330 sounds much nicer

Looks lovely mate... A friend had an M3 cabrio and it was a very desireable car!

Bit slow compared to a scoob though ;) .... that said, I do have a rather higher than stock power scoob! :norty:

Just teasing you: they're certainly quick enough! :thumb:

AWG 18 September 2011 09:21 PM

To be fair i'm sure we all considered the M3 when deciding to buy a performance car, I know I did!

Jonny_ 18 September 2011 09:23 PM

yeh the rasp is certainly different to the burble

been looking at exhaust options but im gonna run it as standard for now

morpheus1870 18 September 2011 09:37 PM

Nice car I also owned one a while back. Different car all together in comparison to the scoob. Luxury, prestige and performance...a great total car.

I agree with the last statement, I have one and it's a fantastic all rounder and doesn't look out of place anywhere :) I still prefer my classic though :norty:

Very nice! Lovely cars. I'd have one any day. Love my scoob but..... After 1hr of driving it you realise its all about the Power and Sound. No Luxuries at all!

My Mates Selling his. Just put it on EBay tonight. Has tried keeping the past year but with 3 kids its a struggle. Hes Gutted!

I am too. Drives sweet. Maybe one day!

interesting thread..ive been thinking about getting either a JDM or PPP Sti..OR an M3.
had a look at a couple of both today. love both..thats the problem. thing is, an M3 is a very complex car and you have to pay a lot more to get one with reasonable miles...plus i think i'll miss the subaru burble..
my missus is desperate for me to get an M3..an image thing i think.
im troubled because i dont know if i'd get the same 'hit' from the M3..there are some beauties about atm, but also some great deals to be had on some very STi's....
keep us informed about life with the beemer! it might help me get off the fence!

Paulo P 19 September 2011 01:34 AM

They are lovely cars but due to the equipment, stance, road presence and image I find it very hard to sell mine even though I don't use it anymore

When I bought it I used it as a daily driver but that only lasted 2 months until I broke my ankle and bought another Subaru and it's not been a daily driver ever since! I've been meaning to sell mine for nearly a year but can't bring myself to do it because I love it too much :D

AWG 19 September 2011 08:58 AM

Think about all the things you love about motoring other than the driving, meeting up with other enthusiasts, learning about new parts, having a tinker under the bonnet to see what goes where. Scoobs tick all the boxes for me!

Adventurer 19 September 2011 01:12 PM

M3 vs Impreza

Does really come down to what you want..

I had a couple of M3's..E30(LHD..) and an E36.

Good points; well made, image I guess if you're into that kind of thing.

Bad points; expensive, image (see above..), not much you can do in the way of mods.

In my view, where the Impreza scores is value and fun. If you want a quick, every day, all weather car there's still nothing to touch a Scooby at the price.

Try driving an M3 quickly in the wet..you'll need to be very good, very lucky or very well insured!

Enjoy:thumb:

i just wish that the STi's didnt have all those bloody awful pink graphics everywhere..feel a right knob with the STi badge staring at me on the dash/wheel!!

Plenty of ///M decals in this :-)

funkyrimpler 19 September 2011 08:20 PM

yeah, but they aint bleedin pink!

Connor_scotland 19 September 2011 09:05 PM

Awesome mate

I just sold my Scooby and bought a E46 M3

As for power mods..... There is plenty out there.

So far mine has panel filter, magnaflow fill system with manifolds and decat!

Next is te CSL rep airbox and a map :)

AWG 19 September 2011 09:11 PM

Boo!

But for the record I love that CSL!

Jonny_ 20 September 2011 01:33 PM

Yeh there is plenty of stuff you can do to an ///M , some of it is very expensive mind!

The prices of some cars are so cheap these days it was rude not to!

Gonna do a few styling tweaks first and then I might look at exhaust options.

Certainly so far it is being more economical petrol wise than the scooby an is far more comfortable.

One area that needs attention for fast driving is the brakes, very quick to fade compared to my STI brakes

AWG 20 September 2011 02:08 PM

Can you get the Porsche front calliper kit for them? I saw an Audi S3 with them when I went to FB Tuning last month.

Not sure about that, I know you can use 850 brembo calipers,as well as k sport, stoptech, AP's etc...

funkyrimpler 20 September 2011 06:45 PM

yeah, everyone slates the brakes..also the rear suspension seems to use old bed springs...snapping is a very common problem...then theres the SMG box..
I had a test drive today (chucking it down with rain mind you), and was very disappointed..it was a very snatchy, jerky affair...even the salesman said he thought it was crap after he'd been for a couple of drives..
If i got one, it would deffo have to be a manual.
