Atrix £12 a month Quidco/T-mobile

After messing about with a few networks to be able to get signal at home, got the wife another Android phone.

Deal through Quidco, T-mobile with £80 cashback works out at £12 a month inc VAT for 300 minutes, 300 text, internet, unlimited landline, no upfront cost.

Atrix is on Froyo and has a pentile display which I can tell, but brisk dual core CPU with lots of RAM, very nice for the money.

Whilst not quite as polished and the display is not as vibrant as the Samsung Galaxy S2 we had from Vodafone (crap signal, returned), it is very impressive for £12 per month compared to £22 per month including the upfront cost of the Samsung.

She has to manually choose Orange T mobile rather than leave the network on automatic, otherwise T mobile grabs the phone and shows a few bars but it won't make reliable calls.

That is just a foible of living in a stone cow shed in the sticks though, Orange is the only network that works.

Saw this deal as well. Trying to convince a friend who is due a change (currently has a ZTE Blade) to get it.

Expires 21st Sept:

But it's not an iPhone! :D

I think it is at least the equal of my iPhone 4 overall. Some things are better, like I don't have to use the awful iTunes to turn the thing on and put some music/contacts on it, just plug into computer and browse the file system, or put in an SD card with music on it, contacts came over from the old Android phone she had. The scrolling isn't quite as smooth as it is only on Froyo rather than Gingerbread, but the phone feels faster in use than the iPhone 4. The camera isn't quite as good either, and the pentile display isn't quite as sharp or bright, but overall I'd call them even.

Testing the two side by side with a few websites, some including flash makes me think I wasted money on the iPhone 4 big time.

Flash it with a Gingerbread based ROM
