Bitt OTT for my taste. What's with the gaps in between the splitter and the bottom of the bumper ?

it's just how it sits, i expected it would sit flush to the underside of the bumper but the fixings allow an even gap all the way round, i assume its to allow air to flow around instead of trying to rip it off

Aside from the aesthetic appearance a splitter is there to create a high pressure area at the front of the car to aid downforce. This is not possible if there are gaps between bumper and splitter.:)

I have one of the STi style ones on my hawkeye. I will snap some pics and show you lot that one too.

Mine sits completely flush with the bumper.

Car is going to Andy F tomorrow morning at 9am for its final mapping finally! I was having a spot of bother with my FMIC pipework, so its taken me until now to get it sorted.

looks a much better fit than mine :(

Is the corners of yours flush with your arches?

When I was fitting mine I noticed that I had to move it back around 5mm to get rid of the gap between the splitter and bottom of the bumper. From your pics it looks like yours sits too far forward.

They look the part, I would cry if u hit a kerb or speed hump.

Your going to cry if you hit a kerb of speed hump with any splitter :lol1:

yeah, the corners are flush. passenger side corner was a problem as the flange on the splitter is too short to meet up with the mounting hole so i'll have the get that with a bit of sikerflex. the curvature of the centre section stops it from sitting flush as it pushes the rest of the splitter away from the bumper

The sti style one appears to be a lot better finish than mine too, i'll get some close up pictures tomorrow with the camera instead of my phone

This is the drivers side corner, it sits snug to the bottom of the bumper and tightly to the inside of the arch

This is the passengers side, it fits just as snug as the drivers side but it's hanging a tad lower as the fixing lug on this side is shorter than the drivers side and is not long enough to reach the mounting hole

I would probably possible to close most of the gap by drilling mounting holes through the middle of the splitter but i expect the fiberglass would split under strain and it wouldnt be possible to get bolts on because of the mud guard that joins to the bumper and stops access

I can see exactly why its not fitting right.

See where the carbon ends and the black fibre glass edge starts, that should be hidden completely by our bumper.

There was no actual mounting holes on mine, so I used double sided tape to hold the splitter to the bumper while drilled holes for nuts, bolts and washers.

I would not trust the mounting holes and move your splitter back so that your bumpers arch is tucked in behind the splitter instead of it sitting on the splitter. I have fitted one of these types of splitter to mates car and that what I did and it sat flush.

Your type of splitter does to stick out as much as the STi style one, it should sit more in line with the bottom of the bumper.

Its just the camera angle, if you force the splitter up against the bumper the you cant see the fiberglass. The picture of the drivers side doesn't show it, but there's a lip on the inside of the splitter and this is flat up against the bumper so it can not be moved further up

I mean further back so the splitter sits behind yours arches like it is on the drivers side.

it does when it's pushed up, it just looks like it's too far forward because it's hanging down slightly. there is no where to mount that corner as the inside lip is too short, much shorted than the drivers side. If i leave it on it'll want a spot of sikerflex to hold it. i'm thinking of dropping it as i don't like the finish to be fair. the end pieces that go into the arches are rough as are the corners and the joints don't match on each side.
