boost gauge - bar v psi ??

Just wonder what the more popular gauge is for boost reading ?? some gauges are available in a choice off bar or psi, newbie qustion !! but what is the more common one refered to ?? often see mapers refer to bar so this the more popular off the two ??

Seems to be, maybe because Defis use bar?

1 bar = 14.5 psi, roughly, 14.5038 for the pedants.

I'm old skool and just bought a psi one! Can't be arsed with the math converting bar to psi. :D

But you'll have to if you ever get it mapped..........whereas if you'd got one in Bar.........

LOL, getting it mapped later in the year hopefully, best have my calculator handy then! :D:D

Bob Rawle doesn't trust your boost guage......he'll plumb his own in, which is in BAR LOL

Presumably other mappers use thier own ?? Only ever been in the car with Bob during mapping.

We went metric in 1971 for christ's sake !

Hence all our signs still being in miles :lol1:

Whatever suits you TBH, I just wish that the Defi went to 2.5 bar... :nono:

Bar is for countries like uk, and so are the temp gauages using deg c

countries like the us for eg. use psi for pressure and deg f for temp

thats why japan make both, due to the difference in the markets.

you can get an use both but you need to know or rather understand what the guage is telling you.

i avoided picking up amber defi's going well cheap on fleabay because they were in psi and deg f, i waited a few weeks and picked off some one at a time equally cheep in bar and deg c.

PSI3 data monitor can display in either PSI or BAR ;)

PSI looks better, bigger numbers to the uneducated passengers lol

dunx 14 September 2011 07:04 PM

If they have time to watch the psi, it's not boosting enough...
