Don't be too hard with the transmission as it isn't the strongest. With all my new cars I do a good service with good quality motor oil, gear oil, air filter, oil filter, and fuel filter.
The classic is the best impreza IMO but are getting on a bit now, so take care of them. My 96 wrx is only on 52,000 and after a full service is absolutely the best car I've ever owned, and I've had cosworths, gt4's, fiat coupe 20vt, turbo mini's etc A good waxoil is a good idea along with a good clean around the arches will keep any rust at bay for a while. Mine has none at all thankfully as only been in the country for 3 yrs! |

i would be taking it to a subaru specialist to get it looked at. a health check will give you piece of mind. if timing belt hasn't been done at 60000 then that would be my first port of call. after that a good service, oil, filters, plugs, brakes, gearbox, etc etc.
