Forged V3 sti, what's it worth please

1 Attachment(s)
Regrettably I think i'm going to have to sell my Scoob. I work away most of the time and my missus is due to drop, can't really justify my weekend toy at the moment.

I know the market is crap and won't get what i want but can I have a few thoughts as to what price I should pitch this at please?:

1996 V3 STI (JDM) in 230 WhiteHistory:
This is a late 96 model JDM V3 STI which was imported by Ralliart UK (now Extreme) and has had 5 UK owners before I acquired the vehicle in 09/05/2009
Taxed until: 31/10/2011
Mot until: 17/03/2012
Mileage: Odometer currently shows 114048 and is recording miles now. The first 75,000 of the history are in KM. (Replacement forged engine with 10,000 miles fitted at 107,201)

Engine:
- API built CDB with Wossner pistons, forged rods, ACL bearings.
- Up-rated oil pump
- Up-rated fuel pump (Walbro)
- K&N air filter with RCM spun trumpet and Samco inlet hose.
- 850cc injectors (larger than required for current set up as I had planned on a 6 speed & bigger turbo in the future)
- SX Fuel Pressure Regulator
- TD05-20g (origin unknown, was on the car when I bought it)
- Simtek ECU with ALS and launch control (mapped by Bob Rawle). 1st map runs 1.6bar, 2nd map 1.2 bar and can be used for lower octane fuel although I have only ever used V Power or Momentum.
- API, standard, ported, un-equal length headers (tried equal length but I missed the burble!)
- H&S 3” 100 cell sport cat downpipe (avoids any hassles at MOT time) with full 3” Miltek system
- Autobahn FMIC

Drivetrain:
- Standard 5 speed TY752 (no problems at all)
- AP Racing organic clutch

Suspension:
- Standard STI shocks and springs
- Whiteline anti-lift kit and uprated 22mm rear anti roll bar
- Powerstation fast road/track day geometry set up

Wheels/Tyres:
- Standard blobeye STI wheels refurbed in dark gunmetal (with pearlescent flake)
- Toyo Proxes all round with 6 mm of tread

Brakes:
- Front - AP Racing 4 pot calipers with 2 piece 330mm grooved discs & Ferodo DS2500
pads
- Rear – 2 pot caliper conversion with brand new Godspeed 290mm grooved discs and kevlar pads.

Interior:
Essentially standard except:
- Lockwood white dials
- Carbon effect trim around the controls, console, vents.
- Kenwood KDC 241SG CD head unit (ipod input)
- Lamco boost gauge on the top of steering column.
The interior is immaculate (no rips or tears in any of the seats)

Bodywork:
MINT! Totally standard, other than the wheels. Just had rear arches done, new splitter, colour coded skirts, car park dents sorted. (Thanks very much to Prodrive rules!)

Security:
Autowatch 160RLI Thatcham Category 1 alarm & immobilizer

I have extensive folder of all UK history, receipts and MOT’s. I/ve spent over 10K on it.

Private plate: *** WRX included in the sale.

I've not had it dynoed in its current spec but I would estimate it to be 350-360bhp (which is the limit of the current gearbox).

Bad Bits:
- Currently only 1 working key fob for the alarm but I am ordering a replacement.
- The engine is quite noisy from cold due to piston slap, however once warm its sweet.

I know some good photos will help but I am working away at the moment. Here is an old one with my track wheels and pre-colour coded the skirts/splitter.

Breaking is not an option for me!
Thanks for any advice.

Anyone :wonder:

the hamster 12 September 2011 11:48 PM

hmmm, based on year/mileage i'd say with that engine, simtek etc around £3500 but obviously worth more if broken unfortunately.

Benji554 12 September 2011 11:55 PM

Youch... as low as that. ok thanks mate.

Bubba po 13 September 2011 12:02 AM

I wouldn't buy anything forged. Buy the real thing every time.

Lovely car but...needs money spending on the drivetrain, 1.6bar ultimately means you're going to need to spent 2k pretty soon to enjoy it properly. :)

Got to be worth 4k in parts ?

ditchmyster 13 September 2011 06:44 AM

Ouch indeed, sounds like you spent over 10k on mods and will be lucky if you see 5k, keep it or cut and run, breaking is a pain in the as5 as once the main bits are gone you will be left with a load of bits and a shell.

I would just keep it if i were you.

MattyB1983 13 September 2011 08:37 AM

I also own a STI3 and couldn't dream of selling it as a whole. Mine is slightly better speced than yours but not massively different.
You've got some nice mods there chap, you've really either gotta keep her or break it up. It's sad but that's just how it is at the minute

Benji554 13 September 2011 11:21 AM

Thanks for the comments. Breaking is just not an option for me with work so it looks like I might have to keep it. It's worth so much more than a 3.5k market price to me. Cheers guys.

jef 13 September 2011 01:08 PM

thats a nice car mate

know what you mean to break

but really it just seems there worth pennies now

only way to getting more is breaking.

like said id keep it - sorn and store away somewhere, until better cash flow times.

Benji554 13 September 2011 11:45 PM

Cheers Jeff

Not necessarily, it depends on torque not bhp and how heavy handed you are with it. I've had no problems on an STi6 RA Limited box with similar engine spec, used to its full but excluding drag launches. Box possibly stronger on the later classics, not sure anyone really knows that for a fact though.

I've been running this spec for a year and i've had no issues with the gearbox. Having said that I've NEVER used the launch control, just in case!

prodriverules 14 September 2011 07:55 PM

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.............don't sell it mate, she looks so good now it would a real shame to let it go especially at that sort of money.
Has to be said guys that STI is as described MINT!!!!
With a little help from me of course;):D

MattyB1983 14 September 2011 08:33 PM

Prodriver, Where abouts are you based buddy ??

prodriverules 14 September 2011 08:42 PM

I'm down in Leominster Matt, need some bodywork sorting fella?

MattyB1983 14 September 2011 10:31 PM

Rear arches could do with a little bit of TLC. Been putting it off but keep hearing such good comments about you I reckon it's just about time I got them sorted.
What would you reckon the turn around time would be to do them, could prep them myself if you wanted.

prodriverules 14 September 2011 10:46 PM

Would be a pleasure to do them Matt, the turn around time would depend on just how bad they are ie need some fresh metal putting in or just surface rust.
I usually like the prep to be my own due to the fact a good paint job is all in the prep but I would happy for you to do it if you want to save some money,Obviously there's no offence intended about the prep:thumb:
Ive got a courtesy car you can use for running about in if needs be too mate:)

Benji554 15 September 2011 02:48 AM

Don't worry Ryan, based on people's comments and the poor market value, looks like I will be keeping it! :thumb:

Benji554 15 September 2011 02:57 AM

Oh and Matty, you won't be disapointed with Ryan's work! :notworthy
