1st clay bar attempt on my Wagon :)
Had a go today and fairly pleased with the results.. although i've now discovered lots of paintwork that needs attention!
So after gathering info from here on detailing i set off on a mini version this morning, 1st stop was my neighbours to use his snow-foam.. not as thick as i would of liked but he was doing me a favour so i couldn't really complain.. :) before; http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...10714-Copy.jpg and after; http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...10715-Copy.jpg http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...10716-Copy.jpg and this is post snow foam but pre wash.. http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...10717-Copy.jpg Hosed the car down thoroughly then washed it using two bucket method and meguiars ultimate wash and wax. Also used a meguiars fibre mitt. Defo going to have another go at this soon maybe using a different claybar as the megs item didn't seem to last long.. big box, small bar lol again this is my first attempt and not in the league of some of you detailers but it's my daily hack too so it'll be dirty again tomorrow.. :D |

It takes a while to do but its worth the effort We clayed our car from new and you would be surprised at the outcome Its now had 7 layers of Jeffs and starting to look good |
Might be worth picking up some iron x and tar remover and use them before your next claying session, iron x removes iron particles from the paintwork and tar remover is as it says.
Also to save on buying quick detailer, get a spray bottle and some cheap car shampoo and use a few cm of that in the bottom of the sprayer and mix with water, does the same job and works out a lot cheaper. |

collinite waxes are good, i use 476s which is a long lasting wax. A couple of coats last a good 4 months in the summer.
There is another one 915 i think, has a bit more shine but doesn't last as long. |
Good job on the clay bar! It's a night and day difference when clay baring a car that hasn't claybar'd before or in a very long time.

If u start machine polishing u need to clay everytime, right pain in the ass :)

Around March time ready for the show season Then follow your wash wax routine |

I bet you couldn't believe how the paint work would come up like slicky smooth glass.

Personally I don't think that the lube is a gimmick, be careful making your own,if you don't get it right you will end up marring the paint work more than when you started as it will drag the dirt against the clear coat and end up having to machine polish it out.
