2011 snow wheels

Guys if I wanted to buy a set of cheap thinnish winter wheels for the 2011 what would you all buy

I don't reall want 245 40 18 s on something more economical and smaller footprint

Any ideas what would fit and where I'd get some

Won't 05 sti onwards alloys fit as then you could get some 225/45 x 17 winter tyres as if you want to go smaller than 17 you will need to fit Subaru 4 pots on the front then fit 16's. Far to much hassle.

Have put Nokian's WRG2's on the standard rims that came with the car but they also come in 17's very highly rated but a small fortune. I paid around 160 a corner for the 18's now just waiting for the snow and ice to arrive.

If your that worried about snow, the odd time we get it, go to work in a taxi, it'll work out cheaper than tyres.

That's a bit of a 'towny' response. Some of us live in rural positions and don't have the luxury of calling on taxis. As for 'the odd time we get it' comment we have been cut off four times in the last three years and it is normally up to a week each time - cheaper to move than buy tyres, not that I would want to? My employers who live in urban environments also don't appreciate the situation hence my purchase of winter tyres. It would help if my council tax actually went to providing a salt box on one of our three hills needed to get up to get out. Rant over.

The "alternative" listed wheel tyre combo for the WRX STi is 8x17 ET48 with 235/45 R17 tyres.

Rota Torques with Nokian WR G2's...............

How did you find the WR G2's on snow / ice, any advice? What time of year did you decide to switch on and off? Cheers
