What alloys are these?
Hey guys,
Not posted on here much as I usually use imprezasport.net but its been dead recently. Just bought some alloys that are apparently buddyclub alloys but I cant find any info on them atall. Can you guys identifiy what alloys these are?! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1107398873...#ht_521wt_1139 Thanks in advance!!! :thumb: |
Hi
We have been selling Buddy Club wheels for many years and they do not look like any I have ever seen before. Buddy Club are a Japanese wheel manufacturer who make wheels to fit predominantly Japanese cars. The wheels in the link are direct fit VW/Audi. I would be careful buying these to fit your Impreza as the centre bore is to fit a VW Audi hub which is 57.1mm diameter, the Impreza has a 56.1mm diameter hub so the wheels will have a mm gap to the hub which will more than likely cause vibration once fitted. We can supply spiggot rings to bring this gap down but they will be that thin they are a nightmare to fit/use. Hope this helps Keith keith@revolution247.com |
Ah wish I had more time to check it out before buying as the auction was ending quick so I wanted to grab a bargain.
I didnt think they looked like buddyclub alloys but thought worst case scenario I could resell them. What do you think the chances are if I fitted these there would be vibration? |
Ahh bit more happy now as I have found someone who has made some 1mm rings.
http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/styli...lp-guys-2.html I will get my get my old tyres on these and if there is a problem with vibration would you (revolution) be able to make some 1mm rings? |
Hi
They are still nice looking wheels even though they are not Buddy Clubs. Like I said earlier, the hub diameter is 1mm different, although it doesn't sound much if a wheel is mis-centered by that much they will more than likely vibrate. If you were to locate the wheel as centrally as you can by hand and tighten the wheel nuts up in a clockwise direction a bit at a time the wheel might pull itself central? Worth a try. We fitted a similar set of wheels to a customers STi recently and we gave him the choice to try the wheels with the 1mm gap for a week or so and if they vibrated too much we would get some rings made up. He rang me after a couple of weeks and said they were fine and did not want the rings. The other (particularly rough IMO) option is a bit of electricians tape wrapped around the hub to take the slack up. We do not use this method by the way just seen it done! Thanks Keith |
Yeah well from what I have seen its not to much of a problem, Also found a website that will do them rite down to 0.6mm which may be handy for people who need some very small ones.
http://www.customspigotrings.co.uk/index.html I will let you know1 :D |
seen these wheels before but for the life of me cant remember what they were called , one of the guys on here has them on his car i think
|

I was thinking that, thought I might make a special request for some 0.5 but I think I will be peeing into the wind. Ill give it ago, from what I have read it looks like it wont make to much difference for 1mm

I now have the wheels and I am still none the wiser.
Here is the writing on the wheels: MADE IN JAPAN VIA (Vehicle Inspection Association Registration System) JWL (Japan Light Wheel Alloy) 6Z03 2 ? I have no idea what wheels these are |

Dont look the same to me, the ones in the pic have a dish to them.

They could well be, :) as dish is often car dependent. If these are Vag wheels primarily but just happen to fit Subarus, then that would explain it :) I recognise the wheels most definitely :)

Well I have more news on these, the center bore size isnt 57.1 as described but a massively different 65mm (prob 65.1 from what I can see most alloys are). Better for me as I can get spigot rings easily, luckily he did get the PCD correct. They are tasty wheels :D

those wheels look very much like a set of technocasts i have just bought.
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...c/IMG_0187.jpg these are the ones ive just bought, were gonna stick em on my cosmic grey type r but, decided against it as the gold isnt quite as nice in real life as it was in the photos. |
Well after much faffing with needing spigot rings and Japanese slim valves and the center caps not fitting its finally coming together. What ya think? http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...ins/wheels.jpg

Right, newest problem, the wheel nuts I have are to slim for the holes on the wheels.
Can you guys tell me what degree is needed on the wheel nuts, I can see 60 degrees is the usual. Was looking to get these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CHROME-TUN...#ht_904wt_1270 Here is a photo with the measurements: http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...ns/nutsize.png |
