Ant 08 September 2011 01:51 PM

It's the top Phone to have right now :thumb:

Until the iPhone is out (balanced restored :D)

pimmo2000 08 September 2011 02:06 PM

thanks good enough for me..

Coffin Dodger 08 September 2011 03:16 PM

It's between the Galaxy S2 and the HTC Sensation for me at the moment (about to upgrade!).

GazTheHat 08 September 2011 06:29 PM

Reviews well, but a friend is just sending the 2nd one back in as many days for different problems. I'd opt for the HTC Sensation myself. On par spec-wise, but better build quality.

Iv had the S2 for a couple of months now and i love it. Very easy to use, 1.2GHz-dual core, very good 8mg camara and hd video, amazing screen and colours, 16 or 32gb internal memory.
I got used to the size very quick but it is quite thin and light. When i use my mates i-phone now the screen looks tiny.
I havnt played with the HTC Sensation tho?

pimmo

just got one last sunday. have to say the best phone i have ever owned. lured my away from blackberry. the new 9900 just didn't seem to have moved on enough from the 9700 i had.

anyhoo the S2 has a screen to die for. the new android gingerbread is very nice. amazingly light and thin to boot. you wont believe how thin the back plate is. it's like paper. dual core 1.2Ghz cpu make it very nippy. comes with 16GB on board and i bought another 32GB microsd from amazon for £34. full 1080p video and plays hd videos nicely. it can be rooted very easily allowing you more control over the phone.

Sounds good .. the only down side, to get it free I need to take a 24 month contract, well 21 as its early .. but its only £20 a month as I work for them ..

New_scooby_04 09 September 2011 11:04 AM

Got it recently mate: best phone on the market in my view!

(and many others it would seem)!

Tescos are doing a good deal at the moment on contract!

birchy2010 09 September 2011 11:12 AM

Had mine 2 monthes and love it!

Looie 09 September 2011 10:46 PM

Got mine Tuesday on an upgrade - what a difference to the Toccu Ultra I previously had!

First smart phone I've ever held, let alone used, but I've found it pretty simple to customise it to my tastes.... probably a lot more I can/will do but I need to learn a bit more about all the stuff that's on it first... lots of stuff on it I don't understand which I'm sure I will work out eventually.....

Stunning screen, miles more sensitive "swiping" compared to the Tocco and so light! - Very intuitive screens once you realise what you are looking at.

Camera quality is far better than the Tocco, even though that also has an 8mb lens....... not been able to stop playing with it.... plenty of cheap "extras" on fleebay (i.e. extra batteries, cases etc) so not hurting my pocket too much..

Recommend it!

You're allowed to say the iPhone is **** and any of the praise above if directed at an Apple product makes you a raving Fanboi.

Someone in a phone shop once advised me to get a Samsung D600, worst phone I've ever had.

What exactly is ****e about them both? The Galaxy S2 is a really good phone and HTC make and have made some good phones as well. The Hero was excellent, the Desire HD and the Desire S also good. The screens and camera are average on the HTC's, but other than that I can't fault them and the Sense UI is the best on Android in my opinion.

So O2 advise people to ignore all the technical reviews on these phones in the press and on the web and listen to their sales staff instead? Let me think about that for a nanosecond ..... :Suspiciou

£20 a month is a steal. i had to pay £31/month on vodaphone and such a palava last sunday to get it free too. had a look at the tesco deal and it seems quite good to.

Recommend it!

get your self a 32GB microSD card. Amazon are doing Sandisk for £35

mart360 10 September 2011 11:40 AM

Apps to play with ..

LLama ... hard to explain but :)

Chomp... better alternative to market ..

and root it, and drop darkys 10.2 extreme rom in to it..

Then pull voodoo apps over,

then delete all the oem bloatware .. easy peasy with darkys rom and rooted phone

then you get a very slick media device

Seen the GII and had a quick play.... not sure if i can blag an upgrade... i pulled an 18 month at £35 for the S not sure if i could do the same for the SII...

May hang fire for a few more months and see whats pops up..

Mart

GazTheHat 10 September 2011 11:50 AM

Gerald Ratner tried this technique... he failed!

pigSTi 10 September 2011 03:51 PM

I have had an SII for a few months now and quite honestly it is the best phone I have had or used to date.
A few of the things I love:

The screen - it's a thing to behold
UI is bliss to use
Response time is second to none
DLNA compatible - integrates seamlessly with my pc, TV sets and home cinema/AV kit
Camera is great, uploading to photobucket account instantly
Front camera is great too, video calls are fantastic
I have expanded the memory by 32GB!
Android Market has some great apps

What I don't like too much, as with many of my previous phones, is the need to charge most nights whilst I sleep. But it is a small price to pay I guess.

Oh, another plus - Gorilla glass - my screen simply will not scratch, even if I forget that I have my keys in that pocket. Nice.

1000 minutes, 5000 text, 1GB data free phone on 24 months £20 ... add staff discount and its £10 a month with any extra charges halved ... result

bigsinky 10 September 2011 07:00 PM

^^^^you lucky, lucky bastid

bigsinky 10 September 2011 07:02 PM

@marty

tried that darky's rom. looks just like the Oxygen rom on my HTC desire. Now while the rom on the desire is miles better than the HTC version, i still think the stock samsung rom looks miles better than darky's.
