FPMSL, always been fine with me!

Keep trying as Zac is notoriously hard to get hold of. Always done a great job for me.

I'll Text Zak for ya and tell him to look out for this thread if you all like. Always looked after my car without problem

Tazz01WRX 09 September 2011 12:26 AM

I was posting up from an Iphone earlier thats why "mocom" came out as "macom". Anyway edited it now so everyones happy.

Well if I cant get hold of mocom racing "ZAK" by tomorrow, which he has perviously worked on my car I unfortunately have to try somewhere else.

Anyone know somewhere that does Cambelts well and has perviously been too?
"2003 STI"
Cheers people

FB Tuning in Princes Risborough :thumb: :) lot's of the Essex boys use Rich @ FB Tuning for good reason.... one of them being that the above is a big ball bag of fail :lol1: and the alternatives are limited. :)

If you have half a decade to p1ss away waiting for an oil change, crack on ;) Personally I don't entertain people with the integrity of a tesco value incontinence pad :thumb:

If you want fuel rails you're better off talking to Carl Davey, at least if you have a problem you get rapid customer service. :thumb:

All IMHO of course :D I am sure some have had simply marvellous service from the incommunicable grease monkey :luvlove:

I didn’t have much luck getting a response from Mocom. My calls were ignored for the two months when he already had my car in his workshop (I was only trying to get an update - good job I brought a second car!) whilst he was having a second attempt to build my PPG gearbox (the first attempt that took six weeks left it popping out of fourth)! Wish I hadn’t bothered as was making horrible noises when I finally got it back. Ended up paying APi for a second opinion (I’m a patient man but it had run out at this stage) where they found the following problems:

3rd/4th synchro sleeve back to front.
Mis-aligned gear set.
Pinion shaft incorrectly shimmed and too tight.
Front diff bearing loose and damaged.
5th driven gear overheated (possible due to heat being used to remove the pinion nut).
The gear set, 1st/2nd synchro sleeve and reverse idler all from a 752 gearbox fitted in a 754 casing.

Then there was the issue with the coilovers that he fitted (also fixed by APi) and the map that Simon aka JGM kindly corrected for me.... but they’re both different episodes to the compelling series.

That was two years ago though, maybe they’ve improved.

I would say use APi based on my experiences. It is a long trek for me but learnt the hard way that logistics should not be the driving factor behind choosing a ‘specialist’.

As far as fuel rails go, I went for Carl Davey's insulated items and they are wonderfully crafted. Carl is a top guy too and was very helpful in picking out the relevant fittings that I was after. :thumb:

Good luck!

Top post Rossi, it's about time the fluff made way for some proper trader feedback ! :)

Mine goes nowhere else

I too gave up on Mocom.

Booked car in to have alignment done and Zak rang as I was leaving home to postpone the job for an hour. Fair enough I thought, waited and hour then set of ( about 45min drive ), 5mins from his place he calls and cancels.

Repeated calls and emails never answered.

In the end I gave up and went elsewhere.

I can recommend GBH Motorsport in Langham, Essex.

Tried to get hold of Mocom for a geometry setup. No answer to voicemails.
Ended up travelling 90 miles to get Peter from PCA Dynamics to setup the geometry instead. Definitely worth the journey, top bloke who knows his stuff. He also went out of his way to help out when my locking wheel nut key snapped off, calling his various contacts until he found someone who could help out (on a Sat morning).
Customer service is so important, I am still amazed some of these tuning shops stay in business with the way they treat customers.

Turbotits 09 September 2011 02:09 PM

Had similar myself. Wanted some headers about 2 years ago. Liked the ones on mocoms site. Called and left about 6 or 7 messages over a week. Still havent heard back

yellowvanman 11 September 2011 11:16 PM

Lol, I see some things never change. Same old poor service, no communication, no doubt all someone else's fault!

Do yourselves a favour and use a company that gives a damn about their customers.
