Milltek: resonated vs non resonated
So, the time has come to move on from the more restrictive 2.5," exhaust to something a bit more free flowing. I have been looking at the Milltek with real interest as i've had loud exhausts now and the little one doesn't particularly get on with them.
So, does anyone know how much power is lost in running a resonated system compared to a non resonated? Also, how loud is a non resonated Milltek? Just as loud as say, a cobra system? |
Hi Tom, I have a 3" resonated Milltek on mine.
It's a nice quiet system for early morning/late night neighbours, but has a nice note when on full chat too, not what you would call 'gobby' :D As for power reduction, it's not been on a dyno with this sytem, but ET's at the pod have shown no difference. There's a guy in BABS with a non-res Milly and it's LOUD. Nice sound but LOUD :D |
Cheers Steve :thumb:
What sort of ET's and 1/4 times did you run with and without resonated system? I might just bite the bullet and go resonated if it's not TOO costly on performance gains :) |
i have the non resonated version and its not loud at all, slightly louder than the prodrive one i had before, sounds great on boost and nice and quiet off boost.
i looked at the non resonated vs resonated when i was buying it and according to the suppliers it makes no difference at all power wise just reduces the in cabin boom noise. but i have to say i havent noticed any. as far as i was aware the miltek was known for being a quieter exhaust which is why i fitted one. |
No power differences to talk about, but there certainly is a noise difference.

mine is non resonated and quiet unless on boost
|
It's not the "on boost" part I'm referring to.... it's the "boom" at motorway speeds for instance. The resonated system is much quieter in that respect.

Thanks Tommy and Shaun :thumb:
I'll definately go for the resonated one if theres no substantial difference in power. |
