You have to remove the squab, undo the bolts at the front. When this is out the way you can remove the back. Can't just remove the back.

2x 12mm bolts holding the base in, then undo 4x 12mm on the bottom of the seat back then knock the seat upwards to release, and be careful when you remove the back from the car as it's easy to scratch the inner wheelarch inside the door shut.

wr pete mentions the scratchy underside of the seats........best to get a second pair of hands if possible to help guide it out of the door :)

Are you replacing the fronts ?

No longer story mate, knocking noise from rear, local garage checked the rear shock and advised that everything appears fine and that the only thing they can think of is that the top bolt requires tightning hence seat removal !!

hopefully it will be just this but knowing my luck doubt it !!! can it happen on the blobeye ??

Had the same on my blob. I thought it was the rear shock knocking. Turned out to be the exhaust. Sounded very similiar

jono300 24 August 2011 07:26 PM

Okay cheers nope checked the exhaust when up on the ramps at the garage yesterday, if you go to the back off the car with the boot open and press up and own on suspension you can here it clunk, not loud but you can here it as I say mechanic gave the car a good check over and confirmed as far as he could see shocker was fine and only thing he could think off was that the shocker required tightened on top ??

Knocking on the rears is pretty common. The struts probably need cleaning and re greasing. I have a guide saved in a link on my pc. Will post it tomorrow. Im mobile at the moment so cant access it

Shocks have to come off car. Springs removed and inserts from struts taken out.

I did it 6 months ago and cured my knocking from the rear. Took ages maybe a year to find and cure it

I guess youd want an hr per side to strip and clean once the struts are off the car
