Impreza speed limiter

Sussed how to remove speed limiter on cable operated speedo drives.
if you remove the clocks, remove the speedo unit itself.
This involves removing the front section of the clocks followed by undoing 2 large phillips screws to release the speedo unit followed be 2 smaller phillips screws on the electrical connections.
When you have removed the speedo, behind it below the trip meter, you will see 2 electrical connections. this unit is a magnetic reed switch mounted below the speedo drive, when the needle reaches the flat-out position (110mph/180kph or 180mph if your clocks have been converted with reduction drive), a magnet in the drive operates the reed switch, momentarily breaking the circuit for the rev counter and hence the ignition also. Thus creating the limiter.

Now, how to bypass this.... :)

by all means, fit the speedo face for mph/blue dials or whatever you wish, but bolt it all back in place.

Remember those 2 smaller screws the connect the electrics on back to the reed switch? Right, take 2 small ring-terminals and a length of wire, approx 10cm in length. connect ring terminals with wire and now bolt ring terminals to the connections with the 2 small phillips screws.
Congratulations, you have now permanently bridged the reed switch.

Replace clocks and jobs a goodun, even if your speedo only goes up to 110mph, the limiter wont cut in and youl keep going to ****knows what speed. :lol1:
