How Much

Hi Guys,

This my first post and I have a quick question.

I have just inherited and 54 plate scooby WRX, I want to sell this car but aren`t sure on the value of it, I took it to a garage to put in part ex (along with my Mondeo st220) and they offered me £2550. To syay i was gob smacked was an understatement. so the car in question :-

2004 uk spec wrx, 105,000 miles, had the engine rebuilt last year, had rear suspension replaced, and bush replace. The front brakes have been replaced but unfortunately the disc have warped so they judder when braking at 75 ish.

Its scooby blue with silver alloy wheels, Its in good condition generally but as with any 7 year old car its got a few minor scratches.

Any Advice is greatly appricated

Pete

Cash sale as a guide you may get £3.5K or less due to miliage

also take £500 off for brakes problems

add £500 on if has PPP

If it has PPP there 'should' be something in the history about it. It's a performance upgrade buddy.

I think the offer from a dealer of £2550 isn't too far out of the way. Remember that the dealer would need to spend a few quid getting the car right if he was to retail it. As you said, it needs the brakes sorting plus it probably needs a few dents doing and a bit of paint. Then maybe an MOT and service. He would also need to make a profit.
Seems very little money I know for a 04 Impreza but the guy could soon of spent a grand prepping it. He then has a 105K mile Impreza standing at £3500. Doesn't leave much room in it for him. Dealer would more than likely ask £4995 with the view of taking early to mid 4's, plus he'd need to give some warranty.

yeah i can see why it would be that price, I just thought it might be worth a bit more having had the engine rebuilt at a cost of £5500, I think it had about £6500 on it in the last year. I forgot to say it has a years MOT and its not long since it was serviced.

Any way thanks for the advice guys, I will advertise it as soon as i get v5 back (been 2 weeks now)

cheers

I've known it to take up to a month to get a log book back chap so don't panic just yet.

How many miles ago was the engine re-built, who did it, to what spec and most importantly is there any paper work to prove it ??

peterg984 18 August 2011 10:15 PM

Hi Matty, Not sure how many miles ago the engine was done (all the paper work is at my mums) I would think 8000 ish. Like I said we have the receipt for the work which was carried out by the subaru garage at pickering North yorkshire. It will have be rebuilt to a the standard engine spec.
I will pick up all the paper work at the weekend (ready for selling it).

Many thanks for you input

Pete

If it's had a proven engine rebuild by a reputable garage then that will add a bit of value.
If the brakes are shot then could be worth replacing them with some decent second hand ones. Would be one less thing a potential buyer can pick at.
