RICH WILD 24 April 2002 12:42 PM

Right,

My brother has been in Japan for 6 weeks and when he comes back this week I hope he's going to get a pleasant surprise. While he's been away, I've been having stuff done/doing stuff myself to his MY97. (He knows all about it, but he's not seen it yet)

So far I have:

Colour coded his side skirts
Replaced his low level spoiler with an STi6 one
Decatted it
Had EBC brakes and pads and 4 pots fitted
Painted his callipers (f+r) red (at his request)
Fitted scoops instead of the normal bonnet vents and meshed them
Meshed his main scoop and the side vents(next to the fogs), grille and the bit behind his reg plate.
Removed the SUBARU logo from his boot
Removed his resonator box ready for an induction kit.
Washed it, polished it and filled up the tank! :D

Do you reckon he'll be chuffed?

here are the pics:

Elvis Presley 24 April 2002 12:48 PM

Rob.

Squizz 24 April 2002 01:09 PM

I hope you're going to finish the job and stump up the extra cash for his insurance premium!

Nice though...Sir, you have taste - Which we already knew ;)

mikeesingh 24 April 2002 01:15 PM

nice :D
how much to do the meshing on my car ;)

mikee

RICH WILD 24 April 2002 01:28 PM

Cheers Chaps,

LOL @ Kippax.

Squizz, cheers for the compliment. On the insurance he's already paying £1600  (aged 22) so another few quid won't hurt too much I hope !!

Mike, bought the mesh from Rob from MRO (see his post above), cost about £25 quid delivered. Did the chopping and fitting myself. Even had enough left over to do Spen555's scoop for him.

Cheers

Rich

Markus 24 April 2002 02:48 PM

Rich,
top job! I like the mesh (where did u get it?)

you could upgrade his wheels for a nice set of 18" while your at it!

RICH WILD 24 April 2002 03:02 PM

Hi Markus,

Read my post above yours m8!! Rob at MRO got me the mesh.

He's actually awaiting some 17" WRX 01 wheels like yours (and Rob's) but I think it won't be long before 18s make an appearance!

Next on his agenda is a HKS Racing Suction kit, FCD and EVC4 boost controller. He wants over 300 brake, just like his big bro!

Cheers
Rich

Markus 24 April 2002 05:34 PM

Rich,
soz mate, I should learn to read (shark's don't read that well ;) lol)

might get some mesh for the beast.

mmmmm MY01's nice!

If he has the 01's and then decides to go to 18" let us know as I might be interested in the wheels if the price is right. Bit premature I know, but what the hey.

cube 24 April 2002 07:15 PM

Rich,

Did I see your bro's car in an Oldham tuners along with your own beastie a couple of weeks ago.
Looks real nice ;)
Is yours all done too?
All set for Well Lane2?

Cube.

Deep Singh 24 April 2002 08:54 PM

Rich car looks wicked.Do you have contact details for MRO?
Will the mesh over the intercooler scoop not hinder cooling?

Danny Fisher 24 April 2002 09:14 PM

Deep, keep checking to links at the top of the pages. He's one of the good guys and bought a banner....

Dan

RICH WILD 25 April 2002 08:33 AM

Cheers for all the compliments chaps.

For anyone else who wants to know about the mesh it's available from

www.mroscoobystlying.co.uk

Cube,

Hi m8, yep all set for Well Lane. My brother's car is on the rollers this time so we'll see if he can keep up with me.
Yes, it was his car in a certain Oldham Tuners ;) the other week.
he was having his new brakes done. Mine's in there now having an EGT Gauge and braided fuel lines fitted. HKS manifold on order too!

Deep,

No, the mesh doesn't hinder cooling, it's not that fine. but it does stop leaves and other stuff getting in the scoop that would.
It should also stop some of the objects getting in there that seem to bend the fins on everyone's intercoolers. Quite what does that I don't know?

Russell,

Damn! Wish I'd known, he's already ordered a brand new one. Due in anytime. I'll bear you in mind though just in case.

Cheers

Rich

Cheers

Rich

StuntMonkey 26 April 2002 05:25 PM

That looks 'SCHWEEEEEEET'!!!!!

Timo 28 April 2002 07:45 PM

Is the mesh in the front Scoop not going to restrict the air flow to the already stupidly placed, undersized and poorly fed intercooler??

I panic about the amount of air getting to mine all the time after reading some of the tech threads on here!!

just a thought!!

Looks good though...

Tim :D

Mkhan 30 April 2002 04:26 PM

very very nice mate

When I meshed mine a while back two things I found happened..

First I lost boost... second the damn mesh came off when I was on the motorway...

Not all of it came off ie.. the turbo cooler one was fine.. untill I took it out as I was losing boost...but the ones under the indicators kept coming off... twice I drove from London to manchester and when I got there one of the meshes was missing.

Replaced it and then another time the other one went....... so I gave up...

The only ones that never came off so I have still left them there were the ones right at the bottom ..the brake vent ones.

Maybe I just never put them on right :D

Mark

RICH WILD 30 April 2002 05:08 PM

They are cable tied on very well so I think they'll be ok.

Mine runs 1.4 - 1.5bar with the same mesh, so don't think boost restriction is a problem with THIS mesh.

Thanks for the compliment anyway. :)
