Very nice choice, nearly got one instead of my hatch but could not convince myself it would be a good daily driver, nursery, tip runs etc.

grahamc 16 August 2011 09:38 AM

So, see you back on Monday or Tuesday once its over-heated ;)

Only joking, lovely car and enjoy it!

Ryan@Indigo-GT 16 August 2011 09:45 AM

The Escort Cosworth is a car I've always wanted to drive!

bonesetter 16 August 2011 10:01 AM

Isn't the cossie quite a performance step back from your P1?

TonyBurns 16 August 2011 10:12 AM

Have a word with Shaun, he use to live and breath cossies until he got himself an MY03 Spec C (now a hawk jdm) :D

Tony:)

TonyBurns 16 August 2011 10:14 AM

Oh and is it the big or small turbo one? (the engine colour should give it away but I cant remember which one is which  )

Tony:)

James159 16 August 2011 10:28 AM

I owned Cossies for 5 and a half years (1 year Sapphire, and 4 half Escort).

Still hold their money excellent and still love the look for the Escort Cossies.

Parts are much cheaper compared to the jap cars, but not as reliable. Then again, I suppose it depends on what sort of power you run through them. I ran my old big turbo Escort as a stage 3 (green injectors, 3 bar map sensor, fuel pump, pectel, -31 etc). It ran well, but it I did get the odd problem. Water pump failed, and radiator broke, perished a couple of water hoses - not bad really. Knew a couple of lads who were touching 400bhp ish in theirs and it was just one thing after another!

Yours a T25 or T34 model?

AWG 16 August 2011 10:44 AM

What a great way to go out on.. love the Escort Cossies. Good luck with that mate, maybe post a pic once you get it! All the best

stuart148 16 August 2011 10:50 AM

Best of luck Stu, I was never keen on the sapphires, but the old iconic 3 door was ok, but as said the best by far for me was the Escort, what a lovely looking car, and still i imho.

Of all the cars to pull you away from a Subaru I'd say an Escort Cossie is a good one! Best of luck with it and I hope we see some pictures of it on here! :thumb:

Scooby_MAN 16 August 2011 01:02 PM

Cossies are awesome. The Escort is also one I'd love to own.

However, I can't help but feel I'd be dissapointed with it. As the saying goes, "never meet your heroes".

Hopefully that's not the case though. I'm sure you'll love it. Get some pics up soon.

james28 16 August 2011 01:10 PM

Gearboxes are not great
they rust but what ford does'nt
Best colour is imperial blue imo followed by aubergine flat black is quite nice too
monte versions are more sort after.
all you need is a set of rondell 18's some ap big brakes uprated fuel pump a set of green injectors a 3 bar map sensor and it should be sorted.3 KEY POINTS condition condition condition oh and a stack of paperwork.Nice cars still look awesome today a great club following and they hold there money like most things rs.Enjoy and i am sure you wont be back for a while once you get into all things rs

markb_s1 16 August 2011 02:03 PM

stage 3 then by the sound of it.. 330 ish bhp?

I love the white ones - one of my favourite colours.

gearboxes will fail if you go for big torque, and getting something that will tkae the abuse will see you spend a fortune on either replacing or uprating gearbox and diffs.

forget rondels.. bit old hat now. i'd stick something a bit more motorsport orientated on it.

wrx9181 16 August 2011 02:07 PM

Join rs escort cosworth . Com buddy
I nearly made the move 2 years ago
Love the look of the escorts body work and the show at Silverstone is moooasive
If your into that ?
I'd avoid companies selling escorts as they are a few bad ones
Great choice

markb_s1 16 August 2011 02:16 PM

i'd suggest passionford.com to be honest.. lots of very knowledgable people on there.

f1_fan 16 August 2011 02:44 PM

Great choice of car. The P1 is a good car, but the Escort Cossie is an icon. Nice one :thumb:

RetroMk1 16 August 2011 02:54 PM

I've got a T34 escort cossie running 390 bhp, its a beast, totally different to a scooby, when the turbo finally kicks in it kicks **** out of you lol. not as nice to drive as a scooby but will put a smile on your face every time you drive it.

Join www.escortrscosworth.com anything you need to know you'll find on there.

Oh and one more thing, you'll always be skint :cry::cry:

martin850 17 August 2011 09:49 AM

I always promised myself an escort cossie before I was thirty, I'm now 33 and still haven't had one

Make sure you put some pics up if you get it :thumb:

tbtstt 17 August 2011 09:51 AM

I've always dreamt about having one as I had always owned escort's but hated the Focus hatch (de ja vue   )

I tested a Escort cossie as i was about to sell my first Scoob, sometimes a fantasy is best left as a dream ;)

I drove it and was totally disappionted, the gear stick was like 3 foot long and had more travel than easyjet. Bits of trim and switches seemed to fall apart in my hand . The brakes were diabolical (compared to a 99 classic
It was also older, twice as many mile and 11/2 times the price of my Scoob. hence scoob No. 2

Tony

stuart148 17 August 2011 02:16 PM

so mixed reviews mmmm

oh well i can always sell it and get a other subaru lol

its only realy a weekend car , and im getting a good deal ;-) , it needs a little tlc but its still a good deal
and my plans for the p1 would of cost 4k and id never see that again , where if i spemd 4k on the cossie ill see a return as they just seem to be holding there money if not going up ;-)

dunx 17 August 2011 03:11 PM

See Yah ! Don't let the door smack you on the ar5e as you leave :lol1:

Seriously though, I have only driven a three dooor "Cossie" that was claimed to be 330 bhp. It was so laggy I thought it was a diesel  then all hell broke loose halfway round a tightening bend.... I walked away at the nearest toilet.

dunx

P.S. Car magazine rated the turbo wagon as better than the Excort Coswoirth back in '96... Hope you enjoy it ( I would like to try a nice one ! )
