Manual Boost controller on Uprated ECU

Hi could i run a manual boost controller on my bozz speed ecu as it currently runs 1.1 - 1.2 bar boost could i turn the boost up and would it automatically put more fuel in?? As its supposed to be a learning ecu?

anyone?

the map sensor tops out at about 1.2 bar. if you run any more boost than 1.2 bar without a custom map and supporting mods you are asking for a rebuild.

ive got a 3 bar map sensor though so it should read to 2 bar shouldnt it?

All things remaining equal, replacing the stock (approx) 2.2 bar with a 3 bar map sensor will make the ECU think you're running less boost so it won't hit boost cut. The MAP sensor is not used for fueling at all, just to initiate boost cut.

An issue to look out for is that the V1/V2 MAF sensor tops out at approximately the amount of air that flows when running 1.3bar, so chances are that the car will lean out as you increase boost.

At a minimum, you should check for AFR and knock when turning up the boost. My opinion (after a few spun rod bearings) is that the early ECUs have too much timing as stock and increasing boost with ordinary fuel is not very safe. To make it worse many of the aftermarket Japan ECUs have even more aggressive timing.

si its not good idea to turn the boost up then pal?

saiklon 09 August 2011 09:33 AM

It's not a good idea to turn it up without checking AFR and knock (which is not too complicated).

do you mean check it with some det cans?

saiklon 11 August 2011 09:47 AM

Det cans + wideband oxygen sensor.
