Extending Manufacturers Warranty...

Had a call from Subaru today offering me a warranty extension now that I'm coming to the end if the 3rd years cover.
So for a single years full warranty extension they only wanted £856
Took me a while to recover from that shocker, anyone else been offered such a cracking deal?

Think I was quoted around that figure when i enquired earlier this year when the current warranty was coming to an end.
Car was due a major service and wanted the timing belt doing soon anyway so figured was a 1/3 of the way to a forged build , well thats how I talked myself into it :D
Now I can do what I want instead of not be able to modify and worrying about the bloody warranty all the time
also feel a bit more assured that the ring lands aren't going to go every 5 minutes.....far less paranoid now and really happy with the car
Had a potential problem whilst it was under warranty anyway and the garage did everything they could to avoid having to sort it and shift the blame...so don't even have any confidence that its worth the paper its printed on.

That's normal price to extend warranty. If you let it lapse the charge goes up £1400 a year

As I put earlier in this thread. My dealer advised me not to take it as the car has to be undriveable to be able to claim so if you can drive it to the dealer then they won't pay out. This was based on experience they had in a recent customer claim.

I was offered similar for my Hatch but this price includes any replacements required during an MOT, if you ask the warranty Co. to exclude the MOT they will offer you a reducuction in the premium. It is their job to try and sell you the most expensive policy, when at the end of the day its the dreaded ringland that we want to insure against.
From my experiance I was glad I had the policy (big end failure) but I had issues with the dealership and a lack of interest in repairing the car, I no longer have a warranty and am prepared to take my chances now!

Can't be right. I pay £60.80 for ten months with their interest free option and that has the mot cover too.
I've paid about that for the last few years. Mine ends Jan 2016

And you get the Subaru breakdown as well

I didn't get chance to go in the end! Can you remember which ones I need? End of downpipe to mid, mid to Y pipe and both backboxes right?

Haven't even managed to get that box open yet with the exhaust in, I've been so damn busy! :freak3:

BTW does anyone know if a Hawkeye hose kit will fit our cars? These engines don't exactly change much from one generation to the other do they?

Guys, just wanted to share; the Pro-R/Zunsport grille set is available from the Subaru parts guy on eBay at the minute for £120 the whole front set until he runs out. He had black ones and he also had polished ones at something silly like £70 the front set.

Bought me some black ones :thumb:

just need to take half the drivers underdash apart :thumb::D

Jay Cartay 10 September 2015 11:28 AM

Argh! I've done lots of work on my cars over the years, including an engine swap and more, but for some reason I just daren't touch this one! Going to have to start getting used to it once the warranty expires!

I've got a Pioneer reverse cam and the optional flat sub to fit and I'm dreading pulling the interior apart without any instructions!
