Impreza 1.6 lx 1999 engine tuning help!
Hi. Im kind of new to performance on scoobys and i would like to get my 1.6 lx at around 250-300 bhp without getting the 2.0l engine. What should i do?

Its never gonna happen. Save up and buy a turbo version
|
Pray for a miracle, seriously mate that sort of power won't happen without a turbo you would struggle to see 140bhp on a 1.6 even with head work, raised compression, new cams etc. Just not worth it.
|
Save your hard earned matey. For that kind of power it'l be cheaper to buy and insure an early turbo. Iv got the 2.0 Sport Special and even that'l take a good £1k to get 200bhp out of.
If your a young driver spend your money on building a nice rep, good looks with cheaper insurance Good luck with whatever you decide ;-) |
Its a windup surely?

Pmsl........

even if you could somehow get 250bhp from a N/A 1.6 it'd be a nightmare to drive on the road in that high a state of tune. You'd be needing to rev to well beyond 10,000 RPM i'd imagine.
Spoon developed a 12,000RPM version of the honda B16 around 10-15 years ago to make more power but it was insanely expensive and just not worth the effort for a road car |
Never

The most powerful Impreza would be the Impreza 2.0 WR1 STi 4d with power of up to 315bhp (depending on the year),. so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Impreza 1.6 LX 2WD.
From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 346.5bhp to 472.5bhp with mods ranging from a few subtle add ons to a full engine rebuild! And more in the case of most Turbo engines if you include an uprated turbo. |
Sorry your talking s**t

Hi ive read this on the web. Look for yourself http://www.carref.co.uk/subaru-impre...2wd-tuning.php
|
No doubt it can be done with a lot of expense, but why bother when you could spend less buying a turbo model ? And that will come with 4wd. A 2wd impreza gearbox won't handle that sort of power anyway.
