Remap question

I've got a K&N induction kit on my UK Turbo and I want to go back to the standard air box with an uprated panel filter. I might do the resonator delete mod too.

Will I need a remap after this?

To put it back to virtually STD on an unmapped car ?

Keep the airbox as standard, just go with uprated panel filter and you won't need a remap. Don't know what year your car is but Car can only be remapped if it's 99 model onward.

The car's had a straight-through exhaust and it was mapped after (or so I was told). Other than that it's pretty much standard. I want to get rid of the heatsoak problems you get from induction kits and get some cooler air going in

It's a MY00 UK. So keep the original cold air feed from the slam panel and the resonator box?

Did you put the induction kit on ? If you did then you will need another remap, induction kits tend to mess up the readings the maff reads so without a remap you won't be getting the best from it, and could spell danger leaning off the mixture too much.
Plus you need a good cold feed to the exposed filter or it will just be sucking hot air, but you need to be careful that water from puddles will not be sucked into the filter.
The standard airbox system is well designed and shouldn't need mods apart from uprated panel filter unless you are running big power.
And if I was you I would try and find out for sure if the car has had a remap because if the cats have been removed and it's not been mapped then that's not good mate. If it's only a cat back exhaust system you will be ok without remap.

As Pete says, if it was mapped for the induction kit then definitely yes, recommended anyway when you do any mods to at least run it on a rolling road to get a good diagnostics run and some feedback from an experienced mapper.

The induction kit was on there before I bought the car. The only cold air feed I have is the one for the original airbox (the resonator box in the wing).

The mods were carried out by a previous owner so I've got no definite way of finding out if it was mapped, but the guy I bought it off says it was, so ... http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...ies/freak3.gif

I'll get it mapped, just as a precaution if nothing else http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...lies/thumb.gif
