SMR gearbox codes
About 3 years ago i bought a gear box of a chap up north out of a classic impreza reconditiond by SMR went on line and SMR had a chart on there site on how to id you gerbox using the 3/4 digit code stamped into the box were the subaru model sticker should be, has any one got this chart By any chance,
been that long now and comp died with the page link on it i forogt the ratio am sure it had 39teeth on the rear diff. Thanks SlAb |
Reconditioned and SMR don't go hand in hand :lol1:
Spray paint and degreaser is about as much as you get.... ( do a search for SMR engines). Check out the transmission codes in the archive section. Tony:) |

Could be SMR Transmissions (big in USA)
SPDA chart here http://www.spda-online.ca/modules/ti...ite/tc_28.html Never heard of a chart that can identify the box from stamped markings unless SMR stamped the boxes they overhauled themselves. :) |
I bet it's SMR in the UK why would you import a standard 5 speeder from the States when there are UK alternatives?
Once the info is removed all you can do is strip it and count all the teeth, it's amazing what a mess SMR can make of the simplest of jobs. Then if they decide to disguise what they've done.................... Good Luck - David APi |
