Thanks for the emails guys. I finally received an email from my supplier in Singapore, who is now dealing in these cars, and the mods.

The costs are going to be pretty much what I thought, which is around £15-17, inc the shipping. But Fed-ex rates seem to be changing on a daily basis, but the final price will be in there somewhere.

They come in 4 different frquencies, but a frquency changer is availble, which can allow up to 7 to race.

It's the list of upgrades that's stunning though. I've received the horrendously large files, but I'm trying to find a way of making it viewable (tooooo big). However, Mods fall into the following categories:-

1) Relay circuit (Speed up)
2) Turbo upgrade for item 1)
3) Twin turbo upgarde for item 1)
4) Relay circuit with Turbo (Additional switch for turbo toggling)
5) Relay circuit with Twin turbo
6) Super bright HID front lights
7) Brake lights
8) Signal Lights
9) Item 6,7,8 set.
10) Remote horn (Once installed cannot upgrade to turbo)
11) Turning Speed controller (Reduce speed when turning)
12) Gear Box set (Shaft,gears(3 different gear ratios),gear box & bearings)
13) Wheel set (All neccesary parts except tyres)
14) Frequency change kit

Anyway. What I need to know is how many of you are prepared to confirm their interest. I need to get around 20 or so orders to make it viable.

I'll leave it until the end of the week before deciding what to do.

Hi Josh

I have found a supplier here that sells the cars for £20 but doesn't have any mods and when i asked about headlights said they were not a mod that was available, however he was hoping for motors and tyres in a couple of weeks!

Are u only ordering cars or can I place an order for upgrades? Do you have a price list u can send me? If u want me to let u know the site for buying them here let me know and I will put it up here.

helpme 23 April 2002 07:21 PM

Bravo,

I know of a couple of suppliers in the UK. To be honest, the manufacturers of our battery powered mobile phone chargers also do some distribution, and have offered me these. As people seemed interested, I thought I'd get a 'sample' order off them, although since I don't have the outlets, it's probably not worth my bringing over a large quantity. The price I've been offered is very good indeed, but it's the shipping of small quantities that's proving expensive. However, I should have no problems getting the mods for you. If you mail me off-line, I can email over the list of motors available.

Phil,

These are 32nd scale r/c cars, with too long a list of mods to even start describing them.

This site has a bit about them:- http://www.frenetic.com.au/shop/category94_1.htm

Josh

Are these the cars that come in a tin with the remote control in the lid? If so I think they were demo'd in the city centre a few months back outside Virgin.

They looked very nice.

F
PS sorry for killing your thread, you'll find that when I add to any post it'll be killed....

Josh L 23 April 2002 11:10 PM

I think they were Floyd. In Xscape right?

I'm sure you won't have killed the thre...............

pslewis 23 April 2002 11:23 PM

Does anyone know how long you get out of a charge?

The wife bought me a couple of R/C Mini Cars 3 years ago, just like these, they didnt hold much more than 2 minutes charge.

Not wishing to p1ss on the party - but I would check the running times .............. it may have already been addressed however

Bravo2zero_sps 23 April 2002 11:31 PM

Hi Pete, I think you will find these run on normal batteries like the official UK toys u can buy in places like toys r us - canned heat, altho they have been renamed to something else now. They are £20 but are well boring to look at compared to these little beauts and the mods have never been offered for the canned heat models either. A m8 of mine has the ferrari canned heat model and i was impressed with how fast it was for something so small and cheap, so how these ones go with uprated motors god only knows - i cant wait :D

pslewis 23 April 2002 11:37 PM

You wetting your knickers Bravo?? ;)

I take it they charge from the controller?? and dont actually have a battery in the car itself??

If so, it is charging up a capacitor I would imagine and has little running time - just a thought my man!!

Hope the lady is ok?? bit off topic but wish her well would you?

Pete

Bravo2zero_sps 23 April 2002 11:49 PM

Pete

the batteries are in the car and handset and are not rechargeable as far as I know, these are 1/32 not like the bit char-g ones which are the size of a matchbox toy car

Yeah she is getting better, thanks for asking, she just has the hassle of the divorce sh!t to go through which has hit home. Plus I dont reckon the w@nker is going to get a custodial sentence as its first offence and will probably be getting a suspended sentence, typical bloody british courts, 12 months in prison for doing 140 mph but slapped wrist and fine for beating the sh!t out of a woman. I so hope I am wrong.

Anyway back to the cars....... I WANT ONE :D

Marceh 23 April 2002 11:54 PM

Bravo2zero_sps 24 April 2002 12:13 AM

helpme 24 April 2002 12:51 AM

Dream Weaver 24 April 2002 09:32 AM

DW

Adam M 24 April 2002 10:08 AM

i think i am in if they do a 22b/p2000/two door coupe etc impreza.

Have a bit charg skyline already, but hey, I dont mind pushing the boat out a bit, if I scrape my pennies together and dont eat for three days I migth be able to spare the £20.

Josh L 24 April 2002 10:12 AM

Right, I've had another chat with my fella in Singapore, and I should now be able to answer some of the questions.

1. They 1:32 scale AA powered cars.
2. Hopefully they'll be as low as £15, depending on VAT/Duty, but allow for up to £17.50.
3. Mods vary in price quite dramatically, and some of them are actually 50% more than the cost of the car. However, you can end up with a car that does 35-40 kph. Bear in mind that you will need basic soldering skills to fit the upgrades, although the suppliers are going to offer ready made upgraded cars.
4. Some mods will not be available in the UK initially, as the model shops won't want to carry everything and, as I said, some are quite expensive.
5. I can get stock in a week or so.

It would appear that there's enough interest for me to bring in a batch of 24, but I need evryone to confirm what they want before I order. Please email your order to me at josh@qlsltd.com. We should be able to accept payment by credit/debit cards, as we'll put it all through the mobile phone charger business.

Josh

sammyh 24 April 2002 10:34 AM

will mail you tonight

Sam

Josh L 24 April 2002 03:10 PM

Good news on the shipping. They got the price slightly wrong, so we should be looking at nearer £15 than £17.

Josh

Bravo2zero_sps 24 April 2002 03:15 PM

Any news on buying the already modded versions?

Josh L 24 April 2002 03:58 PM

Bravo,

The list of possible mods is endless. If you mail me (josh@qlsltd.com) with what you want I'll get you a quote. I don't want to hold up the whole order for a couple of cars, so if you could do this ASAP it would be appreciated.

Josh

Dave T-S 24 April 2002 04:06 PM

Adam mate

If you didn't eat for three days, you could probably buy a REAL 22b not a model ;););)

Josh L 24 April 2002 10:11 PM

I will be looking to place an order tomorrow (Thursday), if there is sufficient demand, so could people please confirm their orders to me ASAP. josh@qlslltd.com

I'll get back to those with special requests in the morning.

Josh
