Going lightweight in a spec c
 

Hi all.

I want to get weight out of my car as its a free option and should increae the efficiency of almost every aspect of the car.

WHats the best way of getting weight out of a spec c?

Not that easy if you want it as a road car with some sanity as the Spec C already has lost sound deadening , subframe Etc.

Chuck in a 5 speed box, they are about 30Kilos lighter than the 6 speed LOL

Buy a motorsport version, you lose alot though, engine and transmission oil coolers, brembo's, interior is very cheap n cheerful, no aircon, no electrics etc, drops the weight down to 1310kg in a blob.
The trouble is that you lose the efficiency, brakes are not as good, no oil coolers, sometimes its best to have those and the extra 40kg.

Go on a diet.....

Lightweight seats, remove spare wheel and jack, could save a little with a racing battery, could get a lighter exhaust but could work out expensive for little gain

Spare wheel is gone..jack is out..have a full titanium exhaust system..

Was thinking lighter weight seats as know the standards are heavy.
Maybe the aircon can be removed saving a few kilos.

Am loosing my thoughts after that though. Its not used daily and is more of a ring toy so comfort isnt on the priorities.

Was even contemplating reducing the length of bolts to save weight as know someone who has done that in the past but my god what a ball ache for a few kilos.

Budget is key right now!

Electric windows out (remove motors etc), central locking motors, interior isnt that heavy really, but if you want to remove the rear and passenger seats thats up to you, you could strip the roof lining out and the carpet....
