2003 wrx air con weight?

How much does the air con setup in a new age weigh?

Thinking of removing mine from my track car project.

someone must have an idea, surely?

bigsinky 13 July 2011 10:46 PM

loads mate but not as much as your seats or your suspension or the sound proofing under the carpet.

Having removed mine i'd imagine between 20-25kgs

If you never use it then its worth losing :)

Great, thanks for the replies.

Interior is out, cage is getting welded in this week and next.

Sounds like air con removal is the next step, then :)

bigsinky 13 July 2011 11:50 PM

henrik, did you do the sound proofing?

Henrik 14 July 2011 07:16 AM

not yet, will do when i get the car back.

bigsinky 14 July 2011 02:48 PM

^^^^ ahhhhh. deep joy. not one of the more enjoyable tasks :(

Henrik 14 July 2011 02:51 PM

My colleague suggested cooling it down with dry ice and then chipping it off... Might give that a go.

The best part is that 6 years ago I added loads of extra bitumen sound deadening for the now non-existent stereo :D

bigsinky 14 July 2011 03:05 PM

^^^^^^^^^^ hahahahahahahahahahaha

did you ever think 6 years ago that one would come back to bite you on the ass?

Henrik 14 July 2011 03:25 PM

No :D

The whole damn boot and front doors are full of it...
