VF43 ANY GOOD FOR WRX
Thinking of upgrading my turbo, can anyone advise me on vf43, will it be too laggy on my 2001 wrx, or vf34/34.tdo518g better?
cheers |
Standard upgrade for bugeye WRX turbo to 330 ish BHP is front entry TD05 16G / VF35 or it's rollerbearing sibling the VF34..................

I went for TD05-18G and its the nuts mate, not laggy. Thats what i'd go for. You should be ok for 350 with supporting mods. Best thing, speak to who's mapping it mate.

cheers guys ive missed out on a few vf35's but didnt want them with high mileswhich one was, td05' am i right in saying you have to be careful buying, some cheapos out there, alot of peolple saying go to Andy Forest for them?

stay well away from Ebay and do some research on the seller before buying on here. There have been a few horror stories. I bought mine from Harvey Smith, very well known and was brand new and comes with a warranty. I haven't had any dealings with Andy Forest, but only heard good things about them.
Pay a little extra and get a quality turbo and its worth having a guarantee |

ahh ok, the only trouble with buying a turbo when not seeing it is you cant check for play in theshaft, leaks etc, harvey smith???
|
best of those mentioned would be the vf34 for your wrx, tho these are quite rare to find a good one.
vf35 would be a good choice and will see 310/330bhp with supporting mods at 350bhp on a td05 18g you are stretching the limits of the standard internals on a wrx engine. |
ok guys this is really helpful, i think most of you are going with vf34/35, not 43 and a decent td05 am i correct???
Did not want to upgrade internals at this time and not tracking it, just want a quick road car with not much lag... hate it |
stick with a quality turbo, harvey smith ,andy forrest etc or you will end up paying twice in the long ( or even possibly short ) run. Avoid ebay at all costs

Search on here for Harvey Smith and PM him Who's mapping your car mate? They will be the best to advise. All I can say is my TD05-18g from Harvey is mental. I couldn't be happier with the performance, the only difference is - mine's a 06 2.5 wrx which will provide more torque. It was mapped by Duncan (Racedynamix) |
VF43 on 2.0 will be slightly laggier like VF34,VF35 or VF30.This turbo is well suited for 2.5,probably you will looking on full boost around 3.5k-4k RPM on 2.0ltr with good setup and good up pipe too.

cheers for your advice guys think i may go for vf35 or vf34, these seem to be a straight swap and not too laggy either.
I will speak to my mapper as recommended cheers |
let us know how you get on mate

|
Any update on this mate? Considering something similar with mine. cheers lee
