Safe power from a Type-R DCCD box?
Seen a few advertised with 350+bhp and was just wondering how good the boxes would handle that kind of power:thumb:

Depends on the year but it's torque that kills them, as a rule 300lbs is "safe" but you can Still kill em at that level.

Mine died at around 300/300, so it's pot luck. I'd not go more that around 330/330 for sure.

have a number of customers running over 400lbs/ft on std 5spd DCCD boxes (both 752 & 754 casing), a little is luck but IMO a lot is down to how its treat/serviced

So if i get the box serviced and keep it regularly serviced it should be fine? Only looking at around 330/300 really.

Well the box is what? 12-13 years old now?
I've been told one of the worst things you can do on a 5 speed is keep your hand on the gear leaver all the time, it puts strain on the syncro's, though if the torque kills the box you dont normally know anything about it until it happens, normally a catastrophic failure :( but these boxes are not as strong as people make them out to be.
