Selling a canal boat
Hi folks,
Anyone here know anything about selling canal boats. Want to get shot of my newly completed widebeam currently moored north of Manchester and wondered if any of you know any boat brokers around Manchester who do a good job? TIA :thumb: |

Try Scoobychick or Distinguished Gentleman on here, they'll know who to put you on to :)

We buy any barge? :)
F1 seriously...how did you end up with a canal boat on your hands? |
Cheers for the replies :thumb:
TdW, LOL ... long story.... a mate of mine found the hull on sale for a song a couple of years ago. It was built to order but the guy who ordered it couldn't pay for it and the boatyard was closing down so they needed rid of it before they handed the yard and mooring back to the landlord. I made them a crazy offer and got it on the proviso it was gone by the end of the week so rang round loads of haulage companies and found one who would mnove it to Lancashire for a grand next day. Job done. Since then my mate and I have been finishing it off. Got a bargain brand new Thornecroft (sp?) diesel engine too. Anyway has been a bit of a project but all finished now so just want to sell it on and make a bit of profit as I have no real interest in boats and my mate already has a 60' widebeam himself. This is a 56' boat, 10'6' wide so nice size. Anyway that is the story. |
got any pics mate? What sort of price you looking for??
|
Some for sale on ebay too.
|
F1 have you thought about keeping it and pimping it out to people for 'canal boat holidays'?
There is a general trend to fix up and restore our canals. |
You can try eBay.
Also have a look at some of your local marinas and moorings as people are always after one or no someone whos after one. I have a friend who's after a wide birth, (if that's the same as wide beam?) but she knows that the restrictions on british waterways causes problems. I'd be interested in some pics, and a price :) The in laws are on their second narrow boat now. |

Thanks Puff.
Thanks for the replies people. I will get some pics next week and come up with a price. Haven't had a chance to properly work out what it's worth yet but at it's 56' x 10' 6 and brand new it isn't going to be bargain basement obviously. Not interested in pimping it out... too much hassle tbh |
Whatever happened to Scoobychick?
|
She moved to the north of Scotland to watch fighter jets!
|
If you could get it on the plane with a water skier attached to the stern, they would be queueing to buy it!
Les :D |
You should take it for a spin on the Falkirk Wheel before selling it :thumb:

There is a general trend to fix up and restore our canals. Don't you mean Carnal Boat Holidays? |
