Trout 04 July 2011 10:28 PM

chrispy200+ 04 July 2011 10:31 PM

SAP is a PLM tool, product lifecycle management, it's what I do for a living

Trout 04 July 2011 11:15 PM

Chrispy - different set of disciplines.

I am looking at Time and Expenses system for a Global Bank.

Which do you use? I am using Agile 6.1... it's crap. I manage the CAD systems which feed into it.

I've used windchill with Catia v5 and Product manager with Catia v4 but work for siemens now with teamcenter and nx

what would scooby do 04 July 2011 11:28 PM

A SAP engineer/tech will charge you £1200 for sending you a PM :D

acstua 04 July 2011 11:34 PM

urgh when ever i hear SAP I just see huge pound signs, now ive never used it and might just be cynical but it does seem like they charge a silly amount for the name and everyone jumps on the bad wagon :P

I Guess it must have been good at some point and who knows prob still is :D heh
I've a mate who does some SAP stuff for Barclays, and they went and off shored aload of the department :/

andys 05 July 2011 08:46 AM

It's an ERP Les ;)

dunx 05 July 2011 11:59 PM

Call me cynical, but isn't knowledge of the business as important as the "tool" used within it ?
On my course (many) years ago we dipped in to business management/admin. and I was astounded at the complexity of the mathematical techniques used.

I'm too old now for all these acronyms... :lol1:

dunx

P.S. 6502, 6809, 68K Assembly language progamming any use :(

I consult in Microsoft Dynamics AX. I don't know much about SAP but I work with the HR, Projects and Finance modules. If its any use to you Trout, let me know...

bioforger 07 July 2011 11:26 PM

nks have you used FRx reporting as a tool to sit ontop of dynamics, for GL reporting perhaps?

Bio - I have indeed used FRx as well as Atlas XL, SSRS, Crystal etc...

Of any use?

bioforger 08 July 2011 05:38 PM

Ah good, well I'm an expert in FRx but I hate the app as it's old, clunky and full of bugs especially in the drilldown viewer. I was wondering if you have come across any other reporting tools that offer the hierarchy options that FRx does but also enable you to consolidate multiple databases again as FRx can.

bioforger 16 July 2011 05:36 PM

I guess not  :)
