Simtek ecu help!
Anyone know what the exact procedure is to switch maps on a newage simtek. Some googling last night came up with throttle down and turn the ignition on should show which map followed by lifting it up and down again to switch but this does nothing :(

Apply full throttle, turn ignition on and wait approx 5 seconds, the rev counter will hop to 1000rpm or 2000rpm and the check light will flash once or twice to indicate map 1 or map 2.
To change the map remove your foot from the throttle and reapply for a further 5 seconds. The map should now swap to the other option and the rev counter and check light will show the other sequence. When complete start the car and away you go. Martyn |
Just been out and tried that Martyn. Doesn't even jump the needle or flash the cel to tell me which map its on :( any other ideas mate?

Can you not get it wired on to a switch?

The above procedure posted by Martyn should be working unless the ecu has had the map set to changed via a switch - perhaps the ecu had been installed on another car before with a switch present and when remapped for the OP's car the switch didnt go with it. Just a thought.... |
Make sure the ignition has been off for 30seconds to a minute before starting the procedure martyn explained as ecu takes a while to power off

Thanks for all the help
Guys. Didn't manage to get it to switch maps unfortunately but it's gone back for it's real mapping session with a proper switch put on it. Just a but odd it wouldn't do it. |
Was it a second hand ecu ?
|
Yeah it was a second hand one.

It is possible that the throttle pot could be faulty and is not making the reqd voltage to enable the switch over procedure.
