2006 Spec C - what wheels will fit?

Hello all,

I know a chap locally that's selling some 18" Innovits. We haven't talked money yet.

2 questions:

1) What other year's of STi wheel will fit a 2006 Spec C (T20)? His was either a 2004 or 2005 Sti.

2) How much are they worth without tyres?

cheers!

Andy

I am sure a 2004 will be the wrong pcd !

JMCarbon 02 July 2011 09:43 PM

you'll need 114 pcd mate, before 2005 they are 100.

they are fairly cheap wheels when new so take that into account

Andy, don't put cheap crap on your car. Save up, and buy decent wheels. IMO

Cheers James. They're 114. I take it that's 114.3, ie if they are 114 they will fit?

Are Innovits ok? Is it worth saving for Rotas? Are they better? Is the main benefit in more expensive wheels reduced weight? Don't really want to fit wheels that are significantly inferior to std STi wheels.

Hey mate. What do you suggest?

EH52WRX 02 July 2011 09:56 PM

Rota's are a good bet, you could go with a 18" X 9" ET 20 ish and that would give you an amazing stance

Andy post a picture of the wheels you have on just now.

I have these for sale just now, and they will fit over your brembo's

They're 17" std STi alloys mate. I quite like the design actually, 18s would be better though.

EH52WRX 02 July 2011 10:18 PM

I have a set of 17" X8" ET 48 PCD 114.3

I think they are wider that your standard wheels.

Would have to get them powdercoated though. Will skip, but cheers.

Keep an eye out for a set of optional bbs lightweight sti wheels, or some genuine prodrive wheels. But my preference would be the bbs ones

Cheers Daz.

What's the difference between cheap and expensive wheels? Is it simply the weight? What's the difference in weight between Prodrive wheels and replicas?

Have just fitted a cheap set of asuka racing alloys to my 04 wagon, as a stop
gap while my o.z prodrives get refurbed.

It says on the box " ultra lightweight " the're not ! Quite a bit heavier than my
prodrives, they seem to have blunted performance which will probably increase
fuel consumption.

The increase in NHV is noticable as well.

Still on the bright side they were cheap!

Interesting that you can feel the difference when driving. I guess if it's true of my bicycle the same principal will apply to cars!

Do you have any idea of the weights of the wheels?

Got any pics of the Oz Prodrives?

+1:thumb:...Inovits=Ino****s in my opinion:D.....For a spec c ensure you get a fully forged set, especially if you are doing track days or will find some rota's and the above inovits melting and falling apart at high temps.

Standard STI Enkei's are fine as well as any Prodrive alloy

Heavy wheels increase unsprung weight. Affects on acceleration and mpg will be negligible. You will notice handling benefits if you fit lighter wheels.
Keep it on 17's. Smaller wheels are lighter and you can fit RE070's (the only tyres to run on a spec C:thumb:)
As for fitting something with a lower offset to give you better "stance" I'd like to think you bought a spec C to drive rather than look at;)

Hey Mags,

I like the Rota GRAs & P1s in 18 inch with Vreddies, but will need to save for a bit first.

I'll look you up as and when. Do you reckon Rotas are better than Innovits? (eg lighter and more durable?).

Andy

Well, mainly to drive, but my neighbours have noticed me stopping and looking at it a couple of times! :lol1: Is there a significant weight difference between a good set of 18s and and the STi 17s? Note both Prodrive and Litchfield recommend 18s.

The only reason to go to larger wheels is when you can no longer fit big enough brakes behind them. Beyond looks there is no other justification. Unless you spend all your time on track the brembo setup (with decent pads and discs) is all you need.
A good set of 18's will never be as light as a good set of 17's. I also prefer the ride characteristics of a higher profile, stiff side walled tyre such as the potenza RE070's or other track biased rubber.
If you've never run your car on 070's that would be my first mod, you won't look back :thumb:

A sceptic might ask if this is because theres money to be made selling wheels ;)
