fittin Prosport Boost gauge - HELP

Guys, i am about to fit a prosport boost gauge to my01 tomorrow onto the A-pillar and need some help.

Do i plumb the vacuum line into he hose coming out the top of my DV? And where is the easiest place to get through the bulkhead?

when wiring up the gauge for power, switching live (for colour change) where are the nearest accesable wires?

Please help, the more pictures the better.

Thank you

well if its a newage the easiest place to take the boost from is to "t" into the hose coming off the dump valve
To get through the bulkhead go through a grommet just above the downpipe \nd it will come through above the clutch pedal.

Easiest place to get power is by using fuse taps and taking it from the fuse box inside as its simple to take the wires up to the a pillar from there.

I'll see if i've got any photos

Yes you can tee the pipe and sensor into the dv vac line.

there is a grommet in the bulkhead , right beside the master cylinder , you can run the wiring through there .cable tie all the wiring out the way to keep it tidy., there may be other grommets in the bulkhead also

if you pull up and forward on the dash clock surround the clock assembly will lift off the dash top, then on the back of the clock it is stamped onto the clock body, what the wires are, i think its pos, earth, acc and something else.

hope this helps.

not a great photo but here is where you want to go thru the firewall or it might be the one below that, i can;t remember:

Huston we have a problem. Wired the gauge in. ignition on, no start up ceremony, White light comes on. Side lights on and it doesn't switch to green..... Ignition off and the gauge does not switch off, seems like it's a permanent life running it. Can someone help.

I ran mine off the cig lighter, easy to get to and has an earth, ignition live and a 'lights on' live, just run what you need and neat it up by wrapping it with a bit of leccy tape, like a poor mans loom!

Right I've sorted out the permenant live problem, still no start up ceremony and can't get the switching live to work.... How do I get the fag lighter out to get to the wires? And which wire is the switching live?

I still think fuse taps are simpler.

use door locks for perm live
aircon for ign. live
illum for changing colour
and ground it to the chassis

If I had the fuse taps to hand I would have used them, but me being impatient I stuck it out with what I had.

Anyone know how easy it is to access the wires on the fag lighter?

Sorry mate, remove the console round the stereo using a knife wrapped in a teatiwel, be careful not to damage the fascia. The clips are in all 4 corners iirc. You should be able to see the wiring below where the heater knobs were! I am basing the info on the newage bug I did it on just the other day.

I can't remember now. Car is nowhere near, do you have a multimeter handy?

wiring as follows USE THE CLOCK harness from centre console

after you pop it out look underneath it the wires from the connector are marked underneath so you cant go wrong.

bat-battery RED
GND- GROUND (clock wiring) BLACK (these are the prosport colours)
LIG-LIGHTS WHITE
ACC-IGNITION AMBER

THATS HOW MINE ARE DONE AND ARE FINE, VERY EASY JOB, remove cente clock and trace the wires from the harness to the writing underneath then solder or connect them all up job done.

dont bother pissing about with cig lighter

Found out that becuae my gauge is the mechanical type i dont have the opening ceremony (bummer)

If my clock unit is not working will that stop the illumination change occuring. I may be after a now clock idf that is the case.

wrx fifer 05 July 2011 10:12 PM

, yeah but your soldering or crimping in to the clock harnedd before it reached the clock, so all should be working, even if the clock it's self is not, and when you switch your lights on they should change colour.
