Due to alam problems i cant use my car!
Right, yesterday everything was working fine when i took the car out to fill up with some nice fresh v power.
Got home parked it in the exact place i always do and couldnt lock the car using my keyfob, had a few attempts but still no joy. Went off today in my other car and bought some new batteries for my keyfob, changed them over when i got in and still cant use my impreza, locks fine and unlocks by using the key in the door, but seeing as i cant arm and disarm the alarm i am unable to start it. I do really like my impreza but after the fuel pump messing up before and now this i am debating getting rid of it, i dont want to as i cant fault anything else. |
car is a 2000reg turbo2000
|
have you got any radio mast`s near by ?

its worked outside my house all the time before though.
|
what make of alarm have you got?or put a pic up of the fob if you dont know.
|
i think its the sigma alarm, keyfob is blue with a black round button, subaru logo on the top and the round bit on the back with the batteries in.
|
might be best to get the immobilser by passed so you can use the car!where in the country are you?
|
It amazes me on one looks at the alarm until there is a problem.
You have a keypad in your glovebox and all you need to do is enter the PIN to dis-arm the car. Dont have the PIN? Well you can change it providing you have a working fob: Changing your PIN: - Arm and then Disarm the system using a working Radio Key. - Within 30 seconds of disarming, type into the keypad: *17856*92*wxyz*wxyz# (where wxyz is your new PIN code) - Arm the system with the Radio Key - You should now be able to disarm the system using the new PIN code Let us know how it goes. |
you need a working fob to do that though! thats my problem in the 1st place, if i could arm and disarm the alarm i wouldnt have a problem.
Got the hump with it earlier and nearly put the windscreen through |
But, if you already know the PIN use the keypad.
Sounds rubbish, but you are going to have to move the car from there. Try pushing down the road a few yards, then try the fob. This is classic radio locout, happened to me at a petrol station I use all the time. |
i live at a dead end road at the top of a hill, if i cant get it started im ****ed and wont be able to get it back outise my house, plus i doubt my luck that it will work
|
If the fob is not responding, then its either a dead fob, or radio lockout.
Have a mate tow you/AA recover you etc. If you want it working you've got to move it instead of smashing the windscreen. |
yeah mate, good point i can try i suppose, but im not that confident it will work, as its been fine outside my house for the year ive had it, why all of a sudden now would i get 'radio lockout'?

|
im in kent, i dont have the pin code well i cant find it in the paperwork i have of the car, i have been looking for the alarm but lost my temper and gave up. Anyone know where the alarm brain would be located? ive had the glove box out and looked all behind there.
|
its probably under the metal plate behind the trim under the steering wheel, normally cable tied in
|
will go check in a sec, what will getting the serial number achieve?
|
Cant you just ring your local subaru dealership and they will give you the code. If its a UK car.
Of course assuming it hasnt been changed by previous owner. I had to ring them to get mine last week. Then took my car over to them and they checked my fob with their alarm gadget. Turned out I had used slightly the wrong coded battery.... even though the crappy internet had told me they were one and the same. Only cosy me £.4.48 in the end. |

ahh i see, nice one, well as soon as i get the serial number i will post it up, that would be a great help
|
i managed to get the alarm unit out, the serial number is
081200099-1391979 Its a sigma m30 Thanks, Leon |
Yesterday i had a stroke of genius, i now have my car working, seems the alarm is proper fcuked, i bypassed the starter feed to the alarm and she started up straight away. All those who thought it was radio lockout was wrong as i tried it in many places and still no joy from the keyfob.
Now just to get a decent new alarm fitted, but im happy i can use my car again. Thanks for all those that helped with the advice. Now just what alarm to choose? |
clifford concept 650 mk2,cracking bit of kit if fitted correctly.my mate had the same type of alarm on his scoob, ive now replaced it with the clifford and hes realy happy with it.you only need a 2 to 1 alarm upgrade for the car because its got an immobiliser in the car key but if you change the car ecu as a lot of us do you will loose the oe immobiliser making you either needing to change your alarm again to a cat 1 or fitting a cat 2 immobiliser when you do for insurance reasons.
