Where to go on me hols?
Taking the nippers off somewhere in the beginning of August. Somewhere near the beach (or a lake beach), within 4 hrs flight. Do you know of any hidden gems?

There are plenty of places that are nice. you could go coastal Spain or lake garda Italy and that has the extra bonus of plenty of topless sunbathers :-D

Depends if you want hot or not, or lots of people or quiet.
Hot/lots of people - we went to Canaries (Lanzarote) and stayed in east Playa Blanca near Papagoyo beaches - circa 4 hour flight nice food/place. Nice beaches/ volcanoes etc stuff to do/see. We also like getting away from people and the rug rats love waves/surfing type stuff so don't really care about water temps as they live in their wetsuits so we go to the West of Ireland a lot (one hour flight or ferry). A great beach is Fermoyle Strand in Kerry and we hire a cottage at the west end of this that is right on the beach so you literally open the front door and they run onto the beach. Fermoyle Strand is something like 15 miles long and we get hacked off if there's more than a handful of people on our beach" in mid Summer. Big waves - fantastic scenery- good food etc. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=ferm...15000&t=h&z=15 |

No beaches in fact due to the fact it's a volcanic island, it all just slopes into a very deep sea. That said I went there years ago and it is beautiful, lots of countryside, mountains, and walking. I'm not that old either :lol1:
