Please help me identify my scooby!!

Hello sorry for being a complete noob but iv'e recently aqquired my first scooby but really dont know what model it is, it has no badges and although I have stacks of paperwork none of this says what exact model it is. It's a classic on the K reg so version 1?? imported in 2000, it is turbo but not red top and the engine is closed deck but there isnt any intercooler spray. It has an alloy bonnet and bootlid with small spoiler but looks like it has had big spoiler at some point. The interior is red grey and black and it has both air-con and electric sunroof aswell as leccy windows all round. The guy I got it from said it was a WRX but it has had ra suspension fitted, not really sure what the difference is to be able to confirm this. Ive tried the vin number on several websites 'GC800440' but it doesnt seem to have enougth numbers?? My best bet is that it is a WRX RA but can any of you guys confirm this?

Thanks for the help

Check it here:

Mr moff 18 June 2011 12:40 AM

I don't think it would be an RA because it wouldn't have a sunroof and I think it would have water spray.
I would guess a v1 wrx or maybe an sti.
Hopefully someone will give more detail as I'm also a bit new to scooby's as well.
Do you have any pictures?

Danny.

Sounds like an early wrx to me but I've never heard of an early classic with an electric sunroof, my 93 Legacy had an electric roof but I've not seen it on an Impreza.

i've got A/C and an electric sunroof on my 94 wrx too.

Mine is a wrx and has an alloy bonnet etc, they're common on the import wrx's iirc.

jayallen 18 June 2011 08:47 AM

Yup early wrx, they had CDB's.

MattyB1983 18 June 2011 09:52 AM

Sounds like early WRX to me.
Get some pics up of the car and interior buddy.

kj200sx 18 June 2011 09:54 AM

could be a wrx v limited but not sure on the sunroof

MattyB1983 18 June 2011 09:54 AM

Also, what colour is it ??

I'm pretty sure all early RA's only came in white.

Won't be a V limited fella, V limited's didn't appear until 1995.

My sister's 260ps had an alloy bonnet too, no sunroof though. Sunroofs must be rare on wrx's?

PeeVee 18 June 2011 10:15 AM

Yup, you have 1 digit missing from your vin no:

If you give me your Reg No: I will look up the correct Vin & input that into my import parts program which will then tell us which car you have.

wotagr8bigchief 18 June 2011 02:03 PM

Thanks for the help guys PeeVee the reg number is K432MGU I have put a couple of pics on my profile but unfortunately they are shoddy MMS ones. I will take some better pics this weekend.

Paulo P 18 June 2011 02:32 PM

Judging by the colour that's a wrx :) Looks like the same colour as my sister's (DBM)

wotagr8bigchief 18 June 2011 02:38 PM

I forgot to say the colour is Mica black apparently, has little sparkles in the right light?

Hi Mate,

Your vin no: is GC8004440

Unfortunately I have now finished work for the day and will not have access to the system until Monday.

The catherine and ken site is a bit flakey LOL

This one is better

http://www.subaru-impreza.org/forum/...ine-codes.html

You need the Applied model code and not the VIN number by the way.

Not true actually... This is the benifit of having access to the official Subaru Japanese parts program, as it will tell me everything I need to know once the vin has been entered.

This data (amongst other things) will include month and year of build, paint colour code, trim code, engine code, transmission code, applied model code & spec of the vehicle. I.E Wrx/Sti/Ra/555 etc etc. It will also tell us weather the car left the factory with things like a sunroof or air con fitted. :thumb:

mickywrx 18 June 2011 05:21 PM

I can see you getting loads of PM's about this. I may well also. ;)

Midlife...... 18 June 2011 05:25 PM

PeeVee is now awaiting a deluge of PM's from SN members about their cars........maybe the mods ought to delete the thread :)

PeeVee 18 June 2011 06:10 PM

Yea good point guys!!

I clearly wasn't thinking straight during my previous posts!! :Suspiciou It must have been the pub lunch that affected my judgement :lol1:

Seriously though, as long as things don't get out of hand, I am more than happy to share any info available from the parts programs, as well as any part numbers that you may need for your Scooby spares.

The jdm parts program will work for all imported subarus built before 2000

The uk version of the parts system I have will accept all european vins from 1992 up to the current models available. :thumb:
